Re: Any tool for converting table to dictionary?

Thanks Kevin. I just wondered if there was some tool that you used specifically for this purpose. I've figured out a fairly straightforward way to do it in Excel.

Any tool for converting table to dictionary?

I need to create a large dictionary, around 50 lines, and have the data in a Excel table. Is there some tool or method that you programmers use to create large Python dictionaries so that you dont' have to type in all of the same formatting elements that repeat over and over again? Thanks for any ti...

Re: Amazon FireTV Plugin

It looked like this was going to work great until I noticed it was missing the Play/Pause button. Fortunately, it's only two sections of code so even I could figure it out. Under class AFTVPlugin(eg.PluginBase): def __init__(self): add self.AddAction(PLAY) and in the appropriate section add class PL...

Re: Marantz/Denon Plugin Development

Finding Denon or Marantz control protocol documents is completely hit and miss, mostly miss. The best and most recent that I've been able to find is "Denon AVR Control Protocol", ver. 01, 01-Dec-17, that includes the commands for the flagship model AVR-X8500H. I couldn't open the .xlsx file in Excel...

Re: Marantz/Denon Plugin Development

Since a plug-in becomes out of date as soon as Marantz/Denon releases a new model with new commands that didn't previously exist, why not make the plug-in barebones to just handle the communications and make the user responsible for looking up and entering the specific commands and parsing the retur...

That is so sad. I know how painful and heartbreaking it is to lose a furry family member. You have my sincerest condolences.

Re: Marantz/Denon Plugin Development

for me to continue with making this plugin I am going to need someone to either let me remote into their computer to code the rest of the plugin or port forward the AVR through their router so i can attach to it. I've been away from the forum for quite a while, but if you're still willing, I'll por...

Re: Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista and newer

so I have decided to add an IR database to the EG webserver Wow. That's quite an undertaking. I hope you're not starting out from scratch. The JP1 folks have been doing this for a couple of decades and have amassed quite the database. It would be quite a feat if you incorporated JP1 protoco...

Re: Epson projector TCP/IP control?

That'd be great. I'll be happy to test the TCP commands. I only went this route because I couldn't get serial to work. I had it working with my Panasonic projector, but that was somewhat blind luck. I couldn't get serial working with the Epson and had no way to troubleshoot other than randomly tryin...

Re: Epson projector TCP/IP control?

Thanks for your help kgschlosser. Your code appears to be very similar to what I used. It does appear to work. However, it only returned a result for the first sock.send command, 'ESC/VP.net\x10\x03\x00\x00 \x00', so I added a second instance of retrieving the 'answer': YOUR_IP_ADDRESS = "10.10.2.78...

Epson projector TCP/IP control?

I have an Epson 5040UB projector that I would like to control via TCP/IP commands. I've verified that it works with the Hercules SETUP utility. After connecting to the projector via <ip address>:3629, you must first send a the string ESC/VP.net<DLE><ETX><NUL><NUL><NUL><NUL> (HEX = 45 53 43 2F 56 50 ...

Re: Amazon Echo Skill EchoToEventGhost

Thanks very much slattynan for the update and clear directions. Those with multiple Echo devices may want to know which device issued a command for location-aware logic. The device-specific id is actually encoded in the command string that comes from Amazon to the EG webserver. It's the second param...

Re: ICS_Relay

Pako, thanks so much for sharing this plug-in and explaining all of the devices faults. I'm using it successfully with an inexpensiveMETechs drapery controller. For anyone looking for the older Prolific driver, there's a good article here.
