Resize a window to be larger than desktop?

I'm running Windows 7, but I believe the behavior is the same in Vista and XP - I can only resize a window to a maximum of the monitor resolution.

I want to resize a window to be slightly larger than the desktop to hide the borders along the outside - is there any way to do this?

That seems to work, but I'm running into another problem: I have an emulator in eventghost, say nes.exe (with event called nes) If I run eventghost -e nes "C:\file.ext" it works perfectly. If I move the file to a complex directory, say Program Files, and run eventghost -e nes "C:\Program Files\file....
