expansion of existing plugin: new plugin?

Post by V_J » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:46 am

Hello,

I'm currently in the process of expanding the MarantzSerial plugin by dexter98. I've been adding many commands and functionalities, but the modified plugin is no longer compatible with the original. I will post my file in the support thread of MarantzSerial, but am wondering what the best policy is, regarding usability. Currently, I would think:
  • give it a different name (I thought MarantzRS232)
  • give it a GUID (how do I generate this?)
This in theory should be enough to run the plugins independently (in theory: both use the serial port, so the first that gets it prevents the other from opening it).

But is this a good way to release it?

Thanks!

Jörg
