Newb question how to pass info to another plugin

Post by falling_downs » Wed Oct 05, 2016 5:03 pm

Hi Everyone

Newb here writing my first plugin and I trying to figure out how to pass a variable to another plugin. Specifically I am trying to set the system volume to a specific percentage. I have a little external controller from palette gear which has a slider/fader function, so i would like to read the number that it generates (already coded) and then pass that over to another plugin to change the volume.

I did try to search the forums but I was having trouble finding the info I need.

Thanks!

I think you are looking for the payload of an event.

You trigger an event with:
self.TriggerEvent("event")

If you want payload, say your volum is in variable x:
self.TriggerEvent("newvolume", x)

In your eventhandler in Eventghost you can then recall the variable with: eg.event.payload

Hope this helpes.
