Urgently needed: Python 2.7 integration

Postby masterjoe » Thu Oct 15, 2015 11:32 am

Hi folks,

firstly this is my first post here - so HI :)
I LOVE EventGhost and it gives me more and more inspiration for a fully automated home. :D

However I would really like to use the linphone package to use a SIP phone with EventGhost automation - currently EventGhost is only Python 2.6.x so it won't work

The package can be found here:
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/linphone

Using it gives the following error:
"ImportError: Module use of python27.dll conflicts with this version of Python."

Hopefully one of the creators of Eventghost will integrate Phython 2.7.x any time soon so that more site-packages can be used than currently.

I believe that IF EventGhost shall have a golden future it really must take the step of integrating the latest release of the Python 2.7 line.

PLEASE do so. I have two cool self-written EG plugins which I will then post for everyone here as a reward :)

Cheers.

It is not so easy, it has been explained & discussed in several threads

And something about rewards, how would you consider the benefit that you are provided the complete EG and all current plugins for free? A lot of developers have spent years on developing for others joy. Publish what you have, your work will be looked upon and if good, very much appreciated.

But don't talk about rewards
My latest plugins

Two men in front of a huge excavator...
- that beast steels work from 100 men with shovels
- well, a 1000 men could do the same using teaspoons

Wasn't meant the way you interpret it. I am sorry for giving you this impression!
I very much appreciate the work that has been spent - a lot! And I am thankful for others building this stuff...

My own plugins are not ready yet but both are plugins which do not exist so far.
One is full Plogue Bidule OSC support and the other a very powerful event remapper which goes WAY beyond what the current remapper can do.

Is there any hope for Python 2.7 after all? Because I really would like to integrate a VOIP phone with Eventghost.

Is there any other Python + Eventghost compatible VOIP phone you know of?
I'd like to do the following with this Python / Eventghost VOIP client:

- be able to fully configure audio in / out ports for the VOIP client
- register with an arbitrary SIP server
- initiate calls by number
- receive calls with notify (events) including caller's phone number
- hang up the phone at will
- mute phone without hanging up

Linphone looks VERY promising but as I said - it's for Python 2.7 =(

Thanks

Yes, you can use Phoner and Phoner plugin.
However, I did not examine whether it meets all your requirements.
