The Talking Diary

Postby allalone747 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 9:57 pm

Hi there every body, I am putting together a Tutorial on how to make a
Talking Diary
The name Talking Diary was suggested by Pako, I posted a message in December 2015, and he take interest in what I wanted to complete.
So first I must let you all know that I am only putting the bits together. Pako did all the script, and his good advice, so my thanks goes to him, I am taking no credit for this, my main pleasure is that I get it working, This I can share it with you fellow members who like myself had no knowledge of Python Script or programming, I hope it’s of some use to others as it is for me. (So here we go)
I have created a 2016 Diary Folder on my Drive C, this is what I did
1Make a Folder and name it 2016 Diary, in it I add 12 sub-directories naming January to December, and in each months I add week’s text files, starting with first week 1 in January through to week 52 in December. In each weeks, I add the days, Monday – Sunday. We are in week 6 so mine look like this.
2 C:\2016 Diary\February\Week 6\Tuesday.txt
3 I then open Event ghost and create a new project, I add A Speech Plugin, then I add a Folder and named it 2016 Diary, I then click on add macro, but cancel it ,so that I can rename it to Python script Dairy ,I then save my project then close Event Ghost I the restart Event Ghost, from the left column I copy the Main Onlint and paste it under the Python script Diary
4 I then add an action, under the event ghost folder I choose Python script, click ok
5 I Copy the Script that Pako had created and paste it into the box ,then click apply, then ok
6 Again I add another macro, and cancel, then rename it
7 Speech: Speak: {eg.event.payload}
8 Save the project, close event ghost, then restart event ghost, now I copy the Dairy. Speak then paste it under the second macro.
9 Now I add an action, and using text to speech, in the text line I add {eg.event.payload}
10 Make sure that you choose a voice that is working, click on apply then do a test Please make sure that you have text in the daily files or you will not hear the result.
I attach a text file with the script that Pako had create .Just copy and paste it in the Python script box.
You can add it to your present project, so you can add all ,birthdays ,appointments, and reminders, and have event ghost reading from your text file,
Thanks again Pako 8)
Thank you

Hi all, 8)
I have followed the tutorial for the "Talking Diary".
http://www.eventghost.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8046&p=38990&hilit=Diary#p38990

I am a bit confused,
I have set it up as in the tutorial but my diary seems to be a week behind :?: .......
It is now 25/05/2016 which is Week 22. But my talking diary is saying it's week 21 :?: I have no idea what I have done wrong :oops:
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Paul.
