Web gui for web server

Post by sebnil » Sat Nov 13, 2010 5:14 pm

I was searching for a web gui for Eventghost but could not find anything decent. I made my own and perhaps others will find it useful:
http://sebastiannilsson.com/open-source ... st-web-gui

Modify the html to suit your needs. It uses an ajax function for sending events and you specify your events in the title attribute for every div.

It is built with jQuery Mobile so it should work fine on most mobile devices including Iphone and Ipad. I tested it on an android phone and it worked quite good.

looks really nice!

Can you build in a function to auto create buttons based on Macros that exist?
... the function would look at each macro in EG and create a button for it if specific conditions exist.
... those conditions could be something like the way the way the event is named, maybe having a "-web" on the end, or a comment object in the macro, etc.

do you think it is doable?
setup... XBMC, W7MC for DVR & Live OTA TV, JRMC for multi-zone audio, EG, MiCasaVerde Vera3, USB-UIRT IR receiver, Harmony remote, 5.2 home theater system

It is doable but not something I will invest time in right now. I chosed this solution because it is easy to style and build more complicated interfaces with html. I think this is difficult to automate, but it is doable.

I have added some support for sliders and two examples for volumebar and lightcontrol. It uses the dynamic webserver to update variables. Take a look at:
http://sebastiannilsson.com/open-source ... -and-light

It allows you to set volume and light dimmers directly.

Hi Sebastian,
I would wish it worked also with a normal browser from Windows. I see a nice way to modernise my existing layout.

With IE, only the text is shown, with Firefox it looks ok but only the sliders generate events in EG

Any hint if it is supposed to work an I'm doing something wrong?

Best regards, Walter

jQuery Mobile does not work in IE. I have tested it in firefox, chrome and android browser. Every button should generate an event and I do not know why it doesn't work for you. Test it in the latest version of Chrome or Safari.

It's resurrect very old thread time.

Does anybody know how to make buttons like these dynamic? Like if a light or thingy is on it would show blue. Off = black.

Has this been done more recently?
In the process of searching.
Thanks all.

Hey Zian,

You have seen that there is a more advanced web interface for EventGhost now with that functionality? ^^°
