I will be home in about 3 hours. If you are available then that would be great. Maybe to approve the icon images and some dialog ideas. I'll do the code you can come up with the design aspects. Even if just drawn out snap a photo with your phone.

Hi,

just wondering if you have been working on this project ? I know you've been busy with many other projects lately, I read some of your posts on other topics :) it's nice to see your involvement in EG !! keep up the good work ;)

I am working on it. there are things in which i didn't know how to do exactly or the best possible way. and some of the other projects i ended up doing have helped me formulate a way to go about getting this done.

but how about this instead of a task bar icons. a bar that will appear at some location of the screen that you choose. displaying the message that was generated in the log from the plugin or action of you choosing..

i have just finished up coding the means to have have the plugin grab all of the installed plugins names and all of the action names the plugin has to display. that was a hard piece of code to write i had to figure out how to go about doing it in a manner in which didn't upset EG.

now i know i could have just let the user enter the name but it would have had to have been in a coding style and not a uiser friendly name. so the user would have to know this or find it.. which is not the best way... the drop down lists would be better.

it will display an icon for the specific action or error if there is one.

I also had to learn how to "intercept" log entries and check them there is still one thing i have to see how it works otherwise i will have to do python stack traces on each and every single log entry... and that is not really the ay i want to go about doing it due to a speed impact. but when a message is made the calling function is passed along with the message to the bit of code that writes the message. i just have to figure out how that gets set and if it gets set for everything that is posted. and also making things work with 2 different versions of EG is a pain in the backside as well..

i thought maybe the infobar would be a better idea. that way it's not just a color but it's the actual message.

Hi,

Well thanks for your feedback and your time on this.

The goal was to have something very small and discrete, hence the icon. We already have the OSD plugin that can do similar task as your suggesting, I guess. The other advantage to have it in the taskbar is that we have the "info" visible all the time, no other window will hide or bother the "LED icon".

I don't know what to say, I don't want to impose anything. :)

Thank you

no no that's fine. let me show you what i am talking about i was going to couple the 2 together being that they would share the same means of identification. I am learning how to attach to things like events. but also to an action. I would really love to make this thing a drag and drop from the log so i have to look at how EG currently does that.

Hello,

I hope all is well.

I was just wondering if you had the chance and the time to make any progress on this feature ? or is it something you abandoned ? if that's the case, that's fine, just let me know so I won't harass you with this anymore :)

have a good day

Oh don't get me started with the house... replacing a couple of boards turned into a nightmare.. and it's been one thing right after another. including replacing a 30 foot long wall framing and all.. having to pull the main beam in the house back into to place to get the bow out of the front foundation wall and to stop the 3 story back wall from bowing out. digging a 35 foot long 4 foot wide 3 foot deep tunnel under my addition (office) so i can lift it back up into place and reattach the floor to the foundation and also leveling the whole house. I have been doing all of this by myself..

the good thing is you can save 10% by switching to Geico... LOL Joke...

But as you can see this is why a lot of things went by the wayside.

if ya have the facebook. i can add you as a friend and you can view the disaster

wow ! it seems to be some serious damage out there ! all this trouble seems to be a real pain in the ass ! and you're fixing all this on your own ?? either you are crazy or very courageous (or both LOL). I wouldn't have done the half of what you did ;) I'm not that handy, good luck man!

Sorry I don't have FB to see the disaster at your house, I'm kinda old school :P

As for our current matter, I completely understand what you're going through, so no worries at all, just work on it when you have some spare time.

have a good day

Yeah i'm a little crazy.

I can't brake it any worse then it's already broke.
and the words "I can't" and "I don't know how" don't fall into my vocabulary. those are just cop outs for "I'm lazy"

But I have made a lot of progress. The turning on and off network adapters took some time. and I have decided to add that bit of it at the core level instead of in the plugin it's self. I have submitted the pull request for it. I am working on doing the same with blueteeth devices. but i wanted to let you know I am not going to be able to have it finished up in the next couple of days. well. not unless it rains. this plugin hits so many different aspects of python.

I have been trying to think of a layout and how to pass the various bits of information from the config dialog to the actual plugin in an efficient manner. I have already worked out the creation of the individual "LEDS" as far as setting the color.

Now this plugin is only going to be able to be used with eg 0.5 because of the network adapter enabling and disabling but also because the new version of EG generates events for the different power states.

I figured it would be best to make the plugin in a manner that monitors the events for an ON/OFF event that the user can set so it wouldn't be limited to just the preset LEDS the user would be able to add the tool tip information for the specific added LED

Hi,

thanks for the feedback ! That's a great idea to customize the led and tooltip behavior. Now that I know that you are working and giving more time to this project, I can't wait to see it in action and actually use it ! :)

And that's a good thing to take advantage of the new features embedded to EG 0.5, sooner or later we will have the chance to install and use this new EG version :)

can't wait !! :P

Thank you again for your time.
