I still need more information as far as the sleep issue goes. so i have yet to address that issue.
So it looks like If I disable the plugin before sleep and enable it after it works. but there seems to be a problem with (my HDTV or the CEC adapter) when the HDTV is in standby mode over night then I need to power it on via the remote. But I need to do some more testing with this.
Hey Jonib,

i got a same issue with my beamer. If its in standby for to long it doesnt react to the power-on cec commands anymore. I gave it up a long time ago to try it and just set it to auto-turn on, if i power it on (via a remote socket^, controlled by over a radio-gateway, also over eventghost).

Maybe thats also a problem of your TV?

@jonib

Did you get the test e-mail i sent from the forum?, I tested the e-mail system and it send to my gmail account without issue. and there are no errors in the logs. I wonder if your e-mail provider is blocking it.
OK, so I see the mail sent 2 days ago and I'm like how did I miss this, I know I looked when you asked.

Then I looked in the mail header and it did come today so I wasn't going crazy.

Interesting, and bad. At least 50% of the cost of the HDMI-CEC adapter was to turn on my HDTV, so if that's not possible makes me a sad Panda.
I gave it up a long time ago to try it and just set it to auto-turn on, if i power it on (via a remote socket^, controlled by over a radio-gateway, also over eventghost).
I'm going to do some tests to see if there is a specific time when it stops responding, and see if the HDNI-CEC adapter shows different info for when it works and not. And hopefully there is a way to overcome this predicament.

it sounds like an adapter issue. has anyone tried keeping their computer from sleeping for a couple of days to see if the problem shows up then?

I am going to release a new version in a little bit. it corrects a lot of problems. mostly with dialogs.

I was going to test that tonight. I have tested to power down the HDTV for longer periods while having the computer on, 60 min power off no problem. But I want to watch some stuff so I'll do more testing tonight.

Ahhh :( did you miss my post here?

On new config:

Code: Select all

18:03:54 Traceback (most recent call last) (0.5.0-rc4):
18:03:54 File "wx\_core.pyc", line 16766, in <lambda>
18:03:54 File "C:\ProgramData\EventGhost\plugins\PulseEightPlus\__init__.py", line 988, in add_adapter
18:03:54 ) = adptr
18:03:54 ValueError: need more than 4 values to unpack
edit:
So I went to the store was gone about 30 min and then I updated the plugin and now my HDTV don't turn on via the plugin, the computer was on the whole time. Damn weird stuff. :?

I wonder if something saw your tv saw your PC as a new device. My TV does this at times. It will make new logical CEC addresses until it runs out of inputs. Something's this works in my favor and things work correctly and sometimes they break

I did miss the part about the blank tree thing. It is a curious issue I am going to have to do some investigating on it.

Also there is no need to disable the plug-in at all. It does it all internally :D

As far as the TV not being able to be powered on. What I can do is disable the polling for the power state. Maybe the TV is not liking it. Who knows.

I do have a question for you tho. The TV stops responding to power commands. If you turn on the TV manually does it generate an event in EventGhost?

If it does then it only stops responding to the power commands it's self. If you turn on the info logging this is going to print out incoming and outgoing traffic. If you can provide me with a screen shot or a copy of the log when you use the power on action. I need the information after the action runs.

This will show if the CEC adapter is sending the command and the TV simply is not responding. Or of the TV is responding but in a manner that the adapter is not expecting.

Let's see if we can narrow down the problem.

I'll do some more testing later, but I know that the plugin can get the power status of the HDTV. So the connection is not totally dead at least.

ok so the problem could be on the TV side of things.

When this does happen does restarting EG solve the issue?
If not then when it is happening close EG and unplug the CEC adapter. then plug the CEC adapter back in and start EG back up. and see if it starts working again.

If it does not then there is an issue with the device at this point. because you have reset everything except for the TV.

At night I had the computer on and tried to power on the TV 4 hours after (via scheduler) and the TV was not powering on. It did power on after 1 hour before in my testing.

When this does happen does restarting EG solve the issue?
No
If not then when it is happening close EG and unplug the CEC adapter. then plug the CEC adapter back in and start EG back up. and see if it starts working again.
Still don't work.

OK so I cut the power to the TV and the plugin was able to power it on after, but was not able to activate the correct HDMI input, after I put the TV to standby from the plugin and powered it on again it was able to change the input again. So getting a bit closer.

New error using old PulseEightPlus-0.4.2b.egplugin and new vesion PulseEightPlus-0.4.3b.egplugin, I cleared the log and was going to activate extra logging for the plugin, and now the config dialog wont work:

Code: Select all

14:41:22 self.ctrls[index].SetValue(True)
14:41:22 NameError: global name 'index' is not defined
edit:
I put the computer to sleep and then resumed and got this:

Code: Select all

15:12:21 Traceback (most recent call last) (0.5.0-rc4):
15:12:21 File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utils\EventGhost\eg\Classes\ActionThread.py", line 69, in OnComputerSuspend
15:12:21 plugin.OnComputerSuspend(None)
15:12:21 TypeError: OnComputerSuspend() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)
and this

Code: Select all

15:12:56 Traceback (most recent call last) (0.5.0-rc4):
15:12:56 File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utils\EventGhost\eg\Classes\ActionThread.py", line 57, in OnComputerResume
15:12:56 plugin.OnComputerResume(None)
15:12:56 TypeError: OnComputerResume() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)
Both OnComputerSuspend() and OnComputerResume() methods needs a "suspend Type" argument.
