Is this possible?

Have an action/macro for VLC that will...
1. Create a bookmark of where you stopped watching a video.
2. Close VLC.

(different macro)
3. Next time that video is opened it opens to that saved bookmark where you left off.
???

I know many other media players have this option but not VLC... Not yet.
If "we" could do this "we" would be many VLC lovers' high priestess and/or priests.

What do you think?

I recently had to reformat my media center PC. Using the same XML file... I'm no longer able to connect to VLC.

I'm getting VLC.ConnectionLost. Any idea what to check?

In VLC do the following:

In "Tools -> Preferences -> check "Show settings: All" -> Interface -> Main Interfaces"
---
Check box "Remote Control Interface"

In "Tools -> Preferences -> check "Show settings: All" -> Interface -> Main Interfaces -> RC"
---
Check box "Show stream position"
Check box "Do not open a DOS command box interface"
Type in the "TCP command input" the address you want to bind to.. so for example "127.0.0.1:1234"

If you look at your %appdata%/Roaming/VideoLAN/vlcrc file these are the settings the config dialog / RC changes.. the dialog suddenly make more sense when you look at the labels in this file..

Code: Select all

[oldrc] # Remote control interface

# Show stream position (boolean)
rc-show-pos=1

# Do not open a DOS command box interface (boolean)
rc-quiet=1

# TCP command input (string)
rc-host=localhost:1234

Thank you for your guide, it works well now. I missed a step initially so here are some pics to help people like me. :)

Hey there

Can anybody tell me how it's possible to jump x seconds back- and forwards? This command seems not be be avaible for the eventghost plugin and the keyboard emulation for the vlc hotkeys doesn't work, too.
Anybody has a special trick, that'll make it work? :)

Edit: Part of the Problem seems to be, that I cant create hotkeys with ctr, alt, shift etc.. whyever...

Up to now I use the emulated keys ',' and '.', because the combinations still don't work. I read about the seek-function. How does that work exactly? But more important is the first question..

I am confused by your questions.
You're in the topic, which is intended to support the VLC plugin.
But it seems, that you are actually not using this plugin. If you use it, so you do not need to emulate keystroke.
I'm sorry, but your questions are beyond my comprehension.

okay, i found the solution, why the plugin doesn't work more or less completely. i had to change the line to: --extraintf=oldrc
(whyever "old"!?)

but there is, of course ;), still a problem:
I'd like to use the fast forward buttons (>>/<<) as jump xx seconds forward and backward. but at the moment, they also speed up/down the video in the vlc player, although there is nothing configurated like that. and i'm pretty sure it hasn't to do with any (x10) windows driver, because i deactivated all of them. in eventghost, this line appears, when hitting the button:

VLC.status change: ( new rate: 2.000 )

Even if I deactivate the whole vlc player folder in EG, it still happens.. only by deactivating the plugin, it stops..
Any idea why?

I'm sorry if it's hard to understand me ;)

I can hardly have any ideas, when I do not know your situation.
For example, if you put your configuration file, it might help.
The speed is changed only when EventGhost is running?

However, one idea I have.
From what you write, it almost looks like that somewhere you have any other macro assigned to the same event.
You can try one thing: disable everything except VLC folder ...

Thats the last thing i tried yesterday.
At the moment it works fine again with ',' and '.' but I really don't know why..
{Ctrl+,} still doesn't work. Is that command invalid?

Hi.

For vlc 1.1.11 and EG 0.4.1.r1534 on OS XP prof SP3 it's very easy.

I use following code:

Switch between "long" and "short" jump:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<EventGhost Version="1534">
    <Folder Name="JumpControlForVLC" Expanded="True">
        <Macro Name="ShortJump" id="476" Enabled="False" Expanded="True">
            <Event Name="Lirc.OK" />
            <Action>
                EventGhost.ShowOSD(u'Включен короткий прыжок', u'0;-35;0;0;0;700;0;0;0;204;3;2;1;34;Arial', (255, 255, 255), (0, 0, 0), 4, (0, 0), 0, 2.0, True)
            </Action>
            <Action>
                EventGhost.EnableItem(XmlIdLink(527))
            </Action>
            <Action>
                EventGhost.EnableItem(XmlIdLink(533))
            </Action>
            <Action>
                EventGhost.DisableItem(XmlIdLink(528))
