Chamberlain MyQ Plugin

Post by rdgerken » Mon Dec 26, 2016 10:10 pm

Here is a MyQ plugin for Chamberlain internet connected garage door openers. This plugin should work with liftmaster/chamberlain/craftsman MyQ internet enabled garage door openers (assuming you already have a gateway installed and configured). When you install this plugin, you must edit the plugin __init__.py file before adding into your project. In the init.py file, you will enter your username, password, and the brand of the internet gateway you have. Upon loading the plugin - it will auto-discover your individual openers and create the appropriate actions.

Please read the plugin description for more information.

*Known issues:
1. If internet connection is broken (such as restarting your router or something like that) - it doesn't currently detect this, and does not reconnect automatically. I'll try to address this at some point if I get time.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks & enjoy!

UPDATE: 2/19/2017 - It appears that the API has been updated by Chamberlain breaking most of the plugins out there. There appears to be some progress on a workaround, but I don't have anything working yet for this plugin. You can follow this thread here to see if you can figure it out on your own. A user on the MiCasaVerde forum claims to have figured out the new API, and has posted an updated plugin for their system. We will need to try to port these changes into this plugin to get it working again. http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/ ... #msg314622 (post 729)

UPDATE: 2/20/2017 - I have completely refactored the plugin using a new library that supports the new API version. I have all of the core components working, but I still need to do a lot of testing and tweaking. I'll post a new version when I've had time to do both.

Hello sir, i am interested in this MyQ gateway and have some questions. Will this work with a Liftmaster 1000 european version. I think the european version has 433 mhz. And does it support 2 garage doors, or do I nee two gateways?

Hi,

Yes, one gateway will support more than one device. As far as whether or not your particular opener is compatible, the most I could offer there is a link to their compatibility tool.

If you have your opener(s) working with the corresponding smart phone app, then this plugin should work. The plugin essentially emulates what their Apple iOS application does.

Chamberlain is the parent company for Liftmaster, and Craftsman "AssureLink" openers - I know it's a bit confusing with all the different names and apps - but they all pretty much come from the same place.

Thank you for the info. I contacted a shop here in Norway, and they confirmed that this gateway did not work on my
opener. He linked me to this other gateway that you connect with wire instead.

I'm not familiar with that control unit. If it doesn't say "MyQ" on it, then I would assume that it would NOT work.

If you follow that link, they have a little compatibility tool that will tell you what you need. Did you try that?

Good luck!

Just a heads up, I've completely bailed on MyQ... tired of their lack of API, restricted IFTTT commands, and pay structure for IFTTT.

I'm using a product called TailWind now. I'm much happier with it, and it has free, unrestricted IFTTT access, which makes it easy to integrate with EG. I'll keep my MyQ gateway in place, but just for backup.
