I would say, don't throw away your dusk relay just yet until you've made sure you're happy with SunTracker :)

SunTracker simply calculates the sunrise and sunset according to the coordinates you input and the computers date and time.

The sunrise/sunset is internally calculated by the plugin itself so no dependencies to external data from internet sources. If you start to use weather compensation, the weather data is fetched from Weather.com. But this is just used to calculate offsets in the actions and if it fails to get data, it will work anyway but offsets can then of course not be calculated.

Regarding the reliability, I hope other users can comment on this better, I have no idea how many are using it but it is many. Myself I have had it running in my home automation system since 2008. During the years many new features and improvements have been added and I feel it is very stable. Whenever there would be a problem, I would be notified here in this forum. Most of the time that has happened was when the weather service stopped working (we used Yahoo earlier) or when users had a suggestion for a new feature.

Best regards, Walter

I'm getting undefined no matter what value I put into the location ID. I even tried the NY location ID at the start of the thread. I have seen other posts bring this up so I'm guessing its a common problem. Anyone find any fixes for this yet?

Simple check: are you using the latest version? If you are using the version included in EG distribution, you need to update. Download latest version from my link below

Updated, and got it working. One thing to note is if you do an internet search of weather.com and your city, the url will come back differently. The best way to find your URL is to go to weather.com, search for your city.

I have some troubles with this plugin - i am fairly certain I've updated it, but seem to have a few issues with the EGplugin format.

Im at version 1.5.6 - is that correct? EDIT: I see now, that this is not the latest plugin. I'll try a few more times with the EGplugin format, just thought of a mistake I might have made.

The trouble I am having is:

Code: Select all
Main.Weather Condition: ''

This event - sometimes it says something else, like mostly cloudy etc - but most of the time it's just this: Main.Weather Condition: ''

Just one " - does anyone know a fix for this? The location should also be set correctly.

The thing you can try to is to find a better and more reliable weather station. Try another location that is pretty close to where you live.

I did that and it worked! But as the closest location I could find is pretty far away it's not that reliable.

I'll see if I can find something else, thank you :)

I'm having problems getting non metric values returned from this plugin. My locations are set using (US) zipcodes & the plugin is set for non-metric. It still always returns metric. Also, is it possible to get more than 5 days returned on the forecast?
