Turning off system restore seems to prevent it from reverting. Thanks for the advice. That seems to have done the trick!

Do you know if waking up from standby by the remote only works for S3 (standby)? I was wondering if it also worked with S4 (hibernate). I know wake-on-LAN packet can turn a system on from S4, not sure if the remote can do the same thing.

Solved: Wake from USB devices was disabled in the system BIOS. After enabling it, everything worked just fine.
