Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
The old plugin wouldn't work on Vista/Win7 unless UAC was disabled and the user account was an Admin account. By making this version run as a service, it will work on any account and you don't need to disable UAC. Also, the transmit works (don't think it was ever really functional in the old ...

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
The service should be putting messages in the logs, especially if it fails to find the device. Can you check the logs again (maybe after a restart the service, so the entries are most recent)?

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I Can't find anything in the logs.
If I add the action: "Test IR transmit capability" and push the button test, I get this in the log:
Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista/Win7: Test IR Transmit capability
IR Receiver is unplugged
So the IR receiver isn't found I think?

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I have done that. And after that restarted windows.
I use the newest version of the Vista plugin from the first post of this topic.
I don't need the old plugin I assume?
UAC is disabled (lowest option).

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I have a clean windows 7. So the remote works properly without EG.
How must I install the service, by running the .msi or by opening the plugin in EG and clicking install service?

first it worked for me, using the MCE_Vista plugin, so I don't think it's my hardware setup.
I think I do something wrong installing the service

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I have the same problem.
First it didn't work. Than it worked for a couple of weeks. And than, out of nowhere, it stopped working.
I've tried both the plugins for the mce, but none of them works.
Which steps must I follow?
I have a clean windows 7 Ultimate installation.
Thanks in advance!

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
Brett,
I've added the new plugin in a fresh EG profile.
Now the MCE remote buttons are recognized as: e.g. MceRemote.Mce.Play
The only option that doesn't work yet, is the learn option.
I still can't learn an IR code from an other remote.
Sometimes the program doesn't respont at all and closes.

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
I already thought something like that. I have tested that, but without any result. So I thought I was wrong.
When I run "Test IR Transmit Capability" the led on the blaster isn't blinking and the receiver receives nothing at all.

Did the new version fix the problems people were having with the plugin (Ronny, jitterjames, chaos945)?

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
Ronny,
The code you sent for the MceRemote's green button doesn't look like a valid code. That is, I looked at the decoders in the original plugin and they wouldn't decode it either. All of the decoders assume a longer than usual 1st pulse, which your sequence doesn't have. Can you try using new ...

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
Ok, the first thing that strikes me in your reply is that MceRemote.Green part. I thought you meant that the plugin (my version, not the original) registered the correct events, but stopped registering correct events after you tried to learn an IR code. Now it sounds like my version NEVER provided ...

Re: New way to get MCE Remote signals in EG (for Vista/Win7)
First off, don't expect the learned pronto code to be the same each time, even for the same button press. They are often different, but the same button should still decode to the same event.
Okay, I now know that! :)
