When you try to assign the space char to a key (like 0) and you assing for example "[space]0_" via the GUI, when you save changes the space dissapears. You have to modify manually the __init__.py I see. But why you do not put the space character simply somewhere other than the first (or last ...

Yes it is a problem. But it is not bug in plugin Multitap. It's the lack features of eg.SendKeys. Also in Czech windows to receive the same error message,
if the characters do not have their own key. Interim fix not it difficult, fortunately.
