If at least one of the two codes received is unique (in the example above, Code A and Code X, not Code B), why not just use that as the triggering event?
The issue is as follows:
short press = A then B
long press = A then B, B, B, B, B

so you need to somehow trigger two different actions on those ...

Hi, I'm having the exact same issue. But I haven't quite figured out the steps you describe to get it to sort of work.
Can you post a pic of how you have it configured? If you try to add two events in the same macro they automatically get put above any trigger so I'm not quite sure how to get it to ...
