I solved it! In case anyone else is interested, I installed the freeware "Switcher" which simulates Flip-3D under Win 8 (shows all active Windows in small at once). Then I changed the shortcut to activate Switcher to Ctrl+F1. And EG works fine with this keyboard combination. You also need Tab and ...
