Dear Walter,
krambriw wrote:- the same problem is also happening when locally connected
- the same behaviour with Chrome and Firefox
- from time to time, it is working better, less disconnects

The computer is not so powerful and has a lot of tasks to do. I suspect now a computer performance issue and not the network because when I this morning disabled logging in the log view, it seems to work more stable (if the log view is active, a lot of events are normally happening since it is my house automation system).
Thank you for the additional information.
But I do not know what is wrong.
You have the option to run the server (for testing) in another computer?

Best regards,

Using the following commands you can create a list of all variables (in the form of a dictionary):

Code: Select all

print eg.plugins.Webserver.plugin.pubVars
print eg.plugins.Webserver.plugin.pubPerVars

Dear Pako, yes, I have now also started a websocket client in the 'slow' PC connecting to a faster PC where another Webserver is running for testing purposes (I expect that this will work fine)

I can however not change the slow computer used for my house automation, it is quite an effort and I have also to purchase a better PC for this purpose first...

My fix is working ok for my needs and I have to accept this for now.

My best regards,

We'll see how it turns out.
I would like to make it more reliable, but I can not (because I do not have that problem).
Maybe someday we will get some important information and then it will be possible to improve it.

Hello,

I have run into problems with the webserver plugin after upgrading to Eventghost version 1694. After my computer wakes up from sleep, the webserver does not seem to work.

Prior to that, I was using an older of version of Eventghost (can't remember what version) which had the webserver plugin without websockets (I don't know if this is what is causing the problem). I tried installing older webserver plugins, but get errors in the log.

No errors show up in the log with the current webserver plugin (3.4). But the webpages just don't load until I restart the computer. I am loading the webpages in the computer running Eventghost.

Thanks,

Kalia

Hello,

I push a new version of Webserver plugin with Websockets support for old browsers (Hixie-76 protocol, especially for early iPad) and also support for IE10/11.
This is an unofficial release which works fine for me, but I'm new here (!), so I'm looking after the view of experimented users...

Regards,
Filandre

Hi guys,

I would like to create a task but I can not.

So I want the next:

If
The chrome browser open a specified window (http://www.sample.com or c:\\desktop\sample.txt)

Than
The system mute off or any other thing..

I already tried the next plugins:

Application Observer
Task Creat/Switch Event
Webserver (with Chrome extension) (Maybe because Iam totaly beginner, but I can not setup this plugin)
etc..

This plugins are recognized the the Chrom window is opened or closed, but can not recognized that the specified url event.

Is it possibble to make something like that?

Thank you in advance!

Do you need the event to be triggered if you open the url in the already open chrome window?
Or could it be triggered from an shortcut which opens chorme on this side and triggers the event as well?

The first. The Chrome is always running in the background with some extensions, so the "new" url trigger is a new tab in ther alredy opened Chrome. This specified new tab need to be the "event" in EG.

As far as I can undesrtand this extension could do exactly this, but unfortunatelly I can not setup, so just not working.

Sorry man, can't get it to work either. I could set it up so the test buttons in the extensions settings would trigger an event in eg. But apart from that no events would be triggered in eg. Don't know if I just don't get how it works...

If your webserver runs on pc with ip address 192.168.1.40 then sending http://192.168.1.40/?test&TEST from a browser should give you a http.test in eventghost with TEST as payload, I think.

Thanks everybody for the help!!
Could you give me a bit more detalied description about this solution? (how can I setup this..)

Maybe it help, if I give a short summary about my wish:

So, the Chrome has a great speech recognition, what is understand my language (unfortunatelly, the vox commando know only 11 language, so I had to be find another way).

This google speech recognitions extension, can control only the Chrome, so for example it can open or close specified url, but I want to use it for control the whole computer.

For the connection of the computer and this Chrome extension, the EG seems a good way, so my idea is the next:

If I can use any specified thing from the Chrome for an event, than I can control my computer throught the EG.

For example I make a simple html file in my desktop (example: mute.html) and when I open it with Chrome
(c:\\desktop\mute.html) the EG recognize it, and mute the system.

I hope it is understandable...
This is possible?

Sorry for my terrible english, and thanks a lot for every comment!!

I have done this long ago, so not sure about the right steps, but I think you should install Eventghost on your computer and add the webserver plugin to Eventghost.
Then, as stated before, you should be able to issue the mentioned URL (i.e. the IP address of your PC and the test values of choice), which should then appear in the logs of Eventghost. I don't know how you want to enter the URL, but I guess you could make bookmarks of them.
Then, drag the events you receive in the log to your eventghost tree on the right side, to the appropriate actions that you want the events to trigger.

You can not imagine how great to read this. So it means, my plan is workable?

Could you give me a detailed description, that how can I setup all of this? Where can i put the IP adress, etc..? How can I convert an url to an event?
