I did a quick test with the Tasker log enabled. Calling the task from Tasker itself prints 3 message in the log, but when I call it from TR, nothing is printed. This seems to confirm that the communication between the 2 programs is broken.

Is TR supposed to complain if it cannot communicate with Tasker? For example, if the name of the task to call is misspelled in TR, will it display an error message in its log, or will it fail silently?

If the task name is misspelled, Tasker displays a toast message saying that a task could not be executed. It does not appear in the log, though.

Can you send me a PM with your email address so I can send you a test version? I would like to diagnose this a bit further.

I can confirm that Tasker no longer works with Terremote on my device. Nothing appears in the Tasker log, though it shows "Invoke Task" in the Terremote log.

Well if all else fails, try uninstalling the apps and reinstalling. back up terRemote first.

I think I've found a bug.

I have made a second layout, and created a button in the first layout to go to the new layout. When the "Action on click" of the button is "Show Layout Lacie Dashboard", everything works as expected. But I would prefer to assign that action to the long click. So, I have removed the action from the single click, and re-created it (exactly identically) in the "Action on long click" area. And bang! Now, every time I long-click the button, terRemote crashes.

Let me know if you need more info.

Nice catch!
I found the issue right away, will be fixed in the next version along with the tasker problem.

Thanks!

BTW, there are also some minor GUI problems, probably only when terRemote is used with a tablet. If they are not too hard to fix, here they are:

- When adding or removing an action in the editor, it is extremely difficult to click on the + or - signs to the right of the line, due to their tiny size. I have to try 10 times or more to get it working, and usually, it's the wrong line that has been clicked! I have to use the option from the Android menu to zoom the app to be able to tap them easily. But, of course, that zoomed mode is not suitable for editing a layout intended to be used on a tablet. I suggest to increase a little the spacing between the lines.

- Similarly, the + and - options in the grid settings appearing when a widget is moved are almost impossible to click on a tablet, for the same reason. (Also, I have not understood exactly what that grid options are supposed to do exactly. It seems that the widgets are sometimes snapped to the grid, but not always.)

- The icons in the icon selection dialog are messed out. They are scaled, too big and blurred, and they overlap each other. In the other hand, the window containing them is extremely small. (Here they are easy to select, but difficult to see, and the user has to scroll the small window a lot to browse all the icons.)

And another, minor bug:

When editing in multi-selection mode, if you turn the device and the layout switches from portrait to landscape or vice-versa, the selected widgets appear deselected. Now, if you try to select them again, terRemote crashes.

Finally, a question:

I would also like to know where the layouts are saved. If they are in a directory accessible with a non-rooted device, I would like to back my layout up regularly when I'm working on it. Also, I have downloaded a layout, but I need an additional button and I need a new icon. Is it possible to retrieve the icons from a downloaded layout to edit them ? (Sorry if that questions are stupid. I'm a newbee with the Android OS. I bought my tablet 2 weeks ago, and it's my first Android device.)

I forgot a suggestion:

Currently, when adding a button, there are 4 possibilities to place the icon relatively to the text of the button: up, down, left and right. Could you add an option to center the icon? (Of course, that option makes sense only when the text is not specified.) Currently, there is no practical way to center the icon easily over the button background.

Just found another bug. When creating a new design, the Pressed and Inactive backgrounds are inverted. If you trust the GUI, you edit the Pressed background when you think you are editing the Inactive one, and vice-versa.

Have you ever thought about adding a screen saver setting into the app?

I've been getting this issue sometimes with USB-UIRT controlling my Xbox. I'm not sure if it's Terremote, Eventghost, USB-UIRT, or my Xbox.

Also, I know this may be a bit of a stretch, but I noticed that the export.ter files are pretty much a proprietary XML file. Would it be possible to create a windows-based layout manager which could then export layouts to a Terremote-readable export.ter file? This is similar to how TouchControl for iOS works: http://www.touch-ir.com/

It makes creating the layouts VERY easy with a mouse/keyboard and more accessible controls. I know this would be an involved task, but I didn't know if this was something you had though of before.

pro: TCP.null ['192.168.2.101', u'3459']

Whats wrong?
