I believe the X11 uses the same IR221 as the S16V. I believe an enlarged VFD is the only difference between ALL of the X-series and S-Series. Maybe another OrigenAE owner, or other knowledgeable individual can chime in if I am mistaken...

CaptainCanuck,

Can you try this in Intelliremote. It will help Stottle figure out how to get it working in EG.

Download our trial Intelliremote...

http://melloware.com/download/

Then after installation make sure to go into Services and Disable both Intelliservice and Stottle's AlternateMCEIRService. Not just Stop them, but stop and Disable them. Only one thing can have the remote at once so lets stop both.

Now start Intelliremote.

1. Can you push buttons on your remote and see the tray icon blink?

2. What is listed on the Devices tab of Intelliremote?

3. If answer to number 1 is yes can you open Notepad and press "1" on your remote and do you see "1" printed in Notepad?

In one post, Melloware (author of Intelliremote) says he can't get the s/w to work with IRTrans (post from Jan 2009):
http://forum.melloware.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6757
In another post, an OriginAE owner got the receiver to work (from Oct 2009):
http://forum.melloware.com/viewtopic.ph ... 221#p15198
That implies there may be other software needed. I'd still like to know how the tests do, but I'm less optimistic about the receiver working without more info.

 Shows you how much reading I've done :!: , saw both of those links prior to starting this thread. The first link above is what got me looking at the EG plugin over Mello's fine work, that and the 'chant' of 'EG-EG-EG' any time a question was asked of an XBMC disciple. :P The second link got me to remove IRSS in thinking it may be a conflict... no luck so far.

And to think this all started because I was tired of MyMovies v2 issues, and the lack of a quality TV plugin for within MC... siiiiigh... only reason I moved to Vista was for the new MC, and now I'm going to XBMC.... IF I can get a remote to work for the WAF!... I coulda stayed with XP!

Thanks again Brett!!

Hi Melloware,

Thanks again for the post(s)!

Here's a list of the steps I performed in VistaUltimate 32-bit to disable both Intelliservice and Stottle's AlternateMCEIRService so that others will be able to follow-along, and just in case I stuck my foot in it  . (UAC is turned OFF from previous testing and ran Intelliremote as Administrator just because! :) ):
1.)right-click on the TASKBAR
2.)click TASK MANAGER
3.)click SERVICES tab
4.)scroll to find INTELLISERVICE, click STOP SERVICE, click SERVICES button in lower-left corner, scroll to find INTELLISERVICE, right-click INTELLISERVICE, click PROPERTIES, on the GENERAL tab find the drop down box for STARTUP TYPE - change to DISABLED, click APPLY, click OK
5.)do the same as Step 4 above for ALTERNATEMCEIRSERVICE
6.)click the RED-X in the upper-right-hand corner to close the SERVICES window and WINDOWS TASK MANAGER window

In reference to your questions above:
1. Can you push buttons on your remote and see the tray icon blink?
NO, I do not see the "Red-LED Button" blink when pressing buttons. ((The IRtrans 'led' is blinking and receiving signals))
2. What is listed on the Devices tab of Intelliremote?
AutoitX3 v3.2.12.1 Copyright 1999-2008
Under MIDI DEVICES it says:
No MIDI devices found
Under COM/ACTIVEX it says:
ControlThink.ZWave Version: 1.3.0.11
Under SOCKET CONNECTION it says:
TCP Socket : Listening on IP Address: 192.168.0.37:6000
UDP Socket : Listening on IP Address: 192.168.0.37:65432
Under HID DEVICES it says:
{{nothing on this line actually}}

3. If answer to number 1 is yes can you open Notepad and press "1" on your remote and do you see "1" printed in Notepad?
Not applicable, see number 1.

Thanks again, cheers!

Ok so that explains that it is not registered as an MCE USB device. Now the next test ....

Start->Programs->Intelliremote->HID Tester and press buttons on your remote. Let's find out if it is a HID Device at all.

Let me know ...

Hi Melloware,

:( = "it is not registered as an MCE USB device" (just my luck)

When pressing the buttons on the remote should they show up in the lower screen of the "Creative USB Remote Tester" window? Or do I need to take the information from the "Info" button?

The upper window only shows a Dell Keyboard and a Dell Mouse...

Thanks much!

Ok based on your test the Irtrans is not a Usb Hid device at all. A custom driver for Irtrans will need to be written. I know that is not what you wanted to hear.

:o  Typical, if it can happen (or not work) it always will for me! "If I didn't have bad luck I would have no luck at all!

So you meant the IR221 shipped with the OrigenAE cases are not USB Hid devices?? (not the IRtrans software...) and therefore will not work with Intelliremote, EG, etc etc ??

Thanks for the investigation!

Hi Brett,

Any further thoughts??

I came across this link http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t= ... t=origenae while doing more research... it seems to suggest that the OrigenAE IR/remote can work within Boxee... it is a wee bit over my head though... is it any help?

Thanks again for all the aid, Cheers!

Sorry, I've got a lot on my plate. I'd like to do something with IRTrans, but I've looked at the code and it would certainly take some time to get up to speed on it. I'm not ready to take on a new project right now.

My recommendation would be to spend $25 on an MCE Remote with a USB receiver and use that. A lot quicker and a lot less trouble. I know it sucks to have an internal IR receiver that wouldn't be used. Trust me, I've got an expensive case with an internal IR receiver myself - and I'm using an MCE Remote.

Hi All

I have just found this excellent program and it solved a problem I had in my Htpc setup. Many thanks for that.
I have an OrigenAE S14 case and I have no problems with Eventghost not recieving commands from the remote. I am using the LIRC client plugin.
