MCE Remote 'Device Not Found'

Hi

I completely clueless as to what I've done wrong, I've installed the driver for my MCE remote from the link below.

I've added the the remote but I'm getting a 'Device Not Found' error message. I checked device manager and its definitely installed but for some reason not functioning properly. Oh I'm using XP if that helps.

You aren't providing enough information for us to help you. I know it is frustrating to fight a computer to get something to work. However, if you provide the right information, you don't make those trying to provide help do extra work.

1) While providing links is good for additional information, making someone run around on the web just to figure out what you are doing is not.
2) You give an error message, but no indication of where the message is showing up, or what causes it to show up. This is key information.
3) You give no idea what you are trying to do. I assume since you are posting in the EventGhost forums that your intent is to get the remote working on EG.

The MceRemote plugin that comes with EG includes a driver version that should work with XP. The plugin configuration dialog also allows you change the necessary registry settings to allow EG to handle remote signals. Try that and see if you can get it working.

Note that there are some MCE receivers (particularly some internal ones) that don't play well with these drivers.

Hi

The messages are appearing in the left-hand window. I don't know why the messages are there as thats precisely why I've come onto this forum to find out. I can actually use the remote within eventghost to move around on the right-hand panel but its just not registering on the left side.

I am trying to get the remote working so I can use it with XBMC, I had it working on a previous installation but had to format due to a virus.

Looking at the plugin source, device not found will arise from 1 of 2 conditions:
1) The MceIr.dll isn't in the MceRemote plugin directory (unlikely, but possible if you changed stuff)
2) The MCE remote entries in the registry aren't present. If you don't have the following "folder" in the registry, you should uninstall/reinstall the OS's MCE drivers (uninstall then plug in the device to let Windows do the install). Once re-installed, try loading the plugin again.

Sorry, that registry key is in HKEY_Local_Machine.

I'm beginning to think my problem is completely unique and new. I done what you said and copied the mceir.dll to the /mceremote plugin folder in the EventGhost directory. I also uninstalled the remote and let windows do the install and then checked the registry, the 'folder' you told me about isn't there but there is another folder called 'mceir'.

This is so strange because when I installed it about a year ago it was simple and went without a hitch. I downloaded another program called intelliremote and the remote doesn't appeared on the list of usb device. Its like it simply doesn't exist on my computer yet I can clearly see it in the device manager.
