apichai: yes, that mp xml plugin is a bit crappy. I can help you to generate the xml file, but the problem actually is that there is no way to get MediaPortal to play movies by name. However, if you just want to be a able to launch videos directly with something like mediaplayerclassic then we can figure something out. I have created my own movie browser for this purpose, and I don't mind posting it, but it's a real hack job and I am too busy with vox to start supporting and developping that program as well.

If anyone knows someone who develops plugin for media portal that would be great. The ideal would be if the moving pictures plugin could expose a public function that lets you jump to a movie by either name (good) or imdb number (much better).

I assume you are using eventGhost?

MatT: thanks, I'm going to look at your xml files now...

Apichai:

Run the attached zippled file.
MPxmlGrabber.zip
(7.14 KiB) Downloaded 112 times
It will scan your moving pictures database, and create an xml file that you can use as a payload in the VC command tree.

if it works, follow the instructions on this image:
mpxmlgrabber.JPG
then run VoxCommando
usingpayloads.JPG
- If you don't already have one, create a group called "Launch", (it has to be called launch or it won't work)

- Create a command in the Launch group.
next to the lightning bolt put the path to your program .exe (media player classic)

- add a phrase, this can be anything;
for example: "launch movie, watch movie, open movie"

- add a payload From XML and enter the path to the XML file you created.

let me know how it goes. I will improve on this solution so that you can rescan your database more easily.

If you need more help, just ask.

Keep MediaPortal installed. You might change your mind...

if it is slow it is probably either vmccontroller or WMC that is to blame.

The problem is that vmccontroller is not very well developed yet and I am not involved in that project. For this reason I am only able to load artist, not album or song. I'm not sure about movies. It is possible to open movies directly in media center the same way as we would with media player classic, using Launch from Vox, but I don't know if I can scan WMC for movie filename and path like I can with MediaPortal. I will look into it.

Apichai, your english seems excellent! 8)

ok, this might not be so easy...

unzip the attached files to your VoxCommando folder.

run the MpXmlGrabber but generate "Full Movie XML"
save the generated xml to the VoxCommando folder and call it Movies.xml

then try to run the program jMovieBrowser.exe

what do you get?

Did you overwrite the old exe?

Do you have flash 10 installed?

Is there a specific error message?

I never really got around to developing this program for others to use.
