I have what I don't imagine to be a unique problem, however I haven't seen any related postings.
I have an IR receiver that came with my MCE remote. However I prefer to use my Directv remote. I have AV2 programmed for a cable receiver that is not the one I own and have mapped that receiver's remote codes to all of the eventghost actions that I wish to perform.
Of course these codes show up as unintelligent gibberish, just letters and numbers. I would like to be able to "name" the codes somehow. I realize that this may require some coding and am prepared for that. Please just point me to some good howto's, relevant posts or simple examples.
Thanks

Directv remote in HTPC
Re: Directv remote in HTPC
The Event mapper plugin will do just that.
The __init__.py file from the other thread should go in EventGhost\plugins\EventMapper\__init__.py (create the EventMapper directory as it doesn't exist by default) and then restart EG and you should find Event Mapper in the loadable plugins list. The event mapper plugin will be included in EG's installer soon but for now you will have to download it separately.
