Two Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceivers

I used the original MCE plugin with EG successfully until I installed a Blackgold 3620 TV card which adds an additional Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver [even though no remote hardware is supplied with the card].
Now I have double entries for all eHome devices listed in Device Manager except eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR).
If the plugin is disabled Windows 7 and remote seem as normal but when I configure the plugin to disable HID service neither Win7 or EG recognize keypresses.
I therefore think that EG is attaching to an incorrect remote channel whereas Win7 works on all channels?
I've tried the alternative plugin and the latest EG with no improvement.
I've tried LMGestion and this does work also any App that supports MCE remote natively [like Mediaportal] also work ok.
I just prefer the flexibilty I used to have with EG.
Is there a fix for this?

The "old" plugin will only work on Win7 if you run as an administrator and turn off UAC. It sounds like it was working before you installed the new card, so maybe you already are set up this way. The new plugin should work without these changes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "[even though no remote hardware is supplied with the card]". If the card shows up as a eHome device (you say it does) then it seems like it does have the receiver hardware. Both the old plugin and the new one will look for an eHome device and attach to the first one found. So it is possible you are attaching to the one that isn't being used. I don't think either plugin also being loaded more than once, so my best suggestion is to disable the 2nd device in device manager and see if that fixes the problem.

Why did you move it to general? He seems to be having trouble with a specific plugin (MCE plugin), and needs support... Probably he should have posted in the MCE thread that already exists here:

That's what I was thinking too James... but didn't.

So we shouldn't have 2, 3, 4 or more separate (but same) plugin topics in the Plugin section?

Come to think of it... and after looking at the first page of the "General Support" area it looks like a large percentage of all those topics are related to one plugin or another.

What to do... What to do?
I'm leaning towards trying to keep the Plugin Support area as "uncluttered" as possible.
Does that make sence?

Merge this topic with the already created MCE/plugin topic?
