Default XML File

Post by jmsosullivan »

Hi all,

Is there any way to make a custom XML file the default EG Tree that opens?

I'm creating a program in Visual Basic, and I can copy my XML file to the EventGhost root folder, where it can then be easily opened. However, I would like if the user didn't have to manually open it, and it instead was automatically the default.

I've tried using keyboard emulation for "Ctrl O, Tab Tab " etc. but it was very unreliable.

Thanks for any help.

If you from your vb app first see to that eg is not running, you could edit the name of the xml-file to be opened (it's in the config.py file)

Best regards, Walter

Thanks for your reply Walter,

I've found 2 "config.py" files, one in "eg\classes", the other in "tools\builder". I've looked thoroughly through both files but can't find anywhere where an xml file is called or loaded.

Which file is the correct one? And where in that file should I make the appropriate changes?

Thanks for your help

I think I found it in the "AppData" folder of the user. Thanks

Got it working exactly the way I wanted it to. I've been banging my head for weeks trying to do this; it's amazing how such a simple suggestion yields a solution.
