Help configuring the Xbox 360 Media Remote in Win7

Hi,

I'm sorry if this question has been posted before but I've searched through the forums but I still don't understand what is really the cause of my problem.

I bought this remote for the Xbox 360 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6874103254) but I would love to use it on my PC. I have Windows 7 x64. I also have a HP Infrared receiver. It shows up as the device "eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)" in Device Management.

I was successful in getting the receiver being read in EventGhost (by using the Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista/Win7 Plugin). I've enabled the XBMC2 plugin and was able to assign some of the Infrared Events to some of the XBMC macros.

The biggest problem I have is that I have to press each button twice to have it registered in XBMC. Even in the event log, the first press just shows the IR event and the next time I press it, the event log shows the IR event and the Macro that runs for it.

PS - I can't find the XBMC2 macro that lets me go back to the Now Playing (the equivalent of pressing TAB on the keyboard).
PS2 - The plugin XBMC2 doesn't have a Keyboard folder filled with Macros....I've seen a picture of the Keyboard folder under the XBMC2 plugin/folder.

Attach your EventGhost config and the log where it shows the macro working and not.

There are some keyboard actions in the latest version here, most if not all keyboard actions have a better alternative in the Buttons\Remote folder when using a remote, so I haven't added all keyboard actions to the plugin.

If you have any more XBMC related questions/suggestions I would appreciate if you posted them in the XBMC2 support thread here, I'll see it faster as I get notified.

I'm aware this thread is ancient (almost year old now), but I'm having the exact same issue as demonzrulaz, and wanted to put in my observations.

It looks like this isn't an issue with the XBMC2 plugin, but possibly the remote? For each relevant keypress (just about any key on the remote), there seem to be two similar codes that alternate (and the red button and "live tv" are the same as well). So it's something like 800F425 and 8007425. At first, I didn't notice that it was two different codes either, but it is.

That being said, I don't know if the remote is just weird, or what. It's quite annoying though, and it's definitely not random -- the codes alternate for me.

It's normal for some remote control protocols to send alternate codes every other button press, they use a toggle(parity) bit. In EventGhost just assign both codes to the macro and it should work fine.
