MCE Remote on Win XP

Post by rbdalvi »

I have a Windows XP computer hooked up to my TV. I recently got a HP branded MCE Transreceiver with IR Blaster (HP model OVU400102). At first XP would not install the drivers. After much tinkering, I finally got it to install using the hacked Fintek drivers mentioned in post 3 here http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threa ... ter.97619/. The remote now shows up as a 'Fintek eHome IR Transreceiver' in Device Manager under Human Interface Devices. I can use the MCE Remote to change the volume of my PC and put it in Sleep mode and scroll using the up/down key pad.

I am now trying to get the IR Blaster to change the channels on my TV using the MCE Remote. My plan is to use EG to learn the IR codes from my TV's remote and assign them to buttons on my MCE Remote. However, after adding a Macro to the MCE Remote Plugin in EventGhost, I am unable to learn the IR codes from my TV's remote. It is not even able to learn the IR Code from the MCE Remote. I have confirmed that the Transreceiver is receiving the IR signal as it flashes a light when any buttons are pressed on the TV remote. Is there a way to get this to work ? Am I using the right plugin ?

Any help will be truly appreciated.

You are out of luck. The MCE plugin does not support blasting on XP, only receiving. You must either upgrade to Win 7 or get a blaster that is supported on XP, e.g. USB-UIRT (www.usbuirt.com)
