There is a nice plugin available for the FS20-System from ELV (eq-3) and the corresponding Sender http://www.elv.de/fs20-pc-sender-fs20-pcs.html
I┬┤m wondering if anybody is planning to write a similar Plugin for HomeMatic (http://www.homematic.com/)? HomeMatic is kind of the "advanced Version of FS-20", Protocol is BidCoS, Interface is XMLRPC. Advantage: its bidirectional and it works wired and wireless.
I did ask the same Question in the ELV Forum and wuffzack (username) told me, that he already wrote something in this direction. I was trying to convince him to let others participate here in the forum. Didn┬┤t happen until now.
see: http://www.elv.ch/topic/homematic-und-eventghost.html (german speaking)
I think that HomeMatic┬┤s possibility to work hardwired and wireless, the price and the wide distribution (at least in germany and switzerland) might make it a very interesting Hardware platform in combination with EG
Wuffzack was writing the plugin for those two Controllers

Maybe i┬┤m alone with this idea, but if anybody has similar thoughts, please let me know.
best regards
H.

Re: HomeMatic - Plugin
Hi,
I played around a little bit with HomeMatic and EventGhost.
However, I'm pretty new to HomeMatic, EG Plugin development, Python and XML RPC.
In case anyone is interested I attach my quick and dirty test plugin for homematic. It registers to a ccu2 on port 2001 (should also work with other HomeMatic devices suppoerting XML RPC) and generates EG events for each HomeMatic event it receives. It also cyclically sends out a HomeMatic ping command to check if th ccu is reachable or not. If not it tries to reestablish the connection.
I'm planning to clean up and refactor the code once I can see that it's possible to implement all features I want to use in the future. Maybe anyone is interested to join.
Currently I'm struggling with a very specific problem: Whenever the configuration dialog is used to change parameters, the stop and start sequences do not work properly: For any reason the init command runs into a timeout and sometimes the ccu hangs up, so you have to reboot it. Probably anyone can help?
Please keep in mind that this is not a fully functional plugin but a proof of concept! I'm pretty sure that many parts of the implementation can be done better and that error/exception handling has to be improved.

Was anybody able to solve the problem with the configuration dialog? Any other improvements to share?
Or is the plugin not working at all for your environments?

Re: HomeMatic - Plugin
I would love to have a Homematic Plugin for Eventghost.
But actually I use Intertechno and some FS20 actors since 5 years.
But I plan to buy a Homematic LAN Gateway too, if it exist a plugin for Eventghost too.
So I can't test your plugin for now.
