emachines start button problem

Post by estaman »

Details
win 7 64 bit
emachines rc6 ir remote such as this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Emachines-HTPC- ... 7675.l2557
Latest eventghost installed

Problem:
When i hook the dongle EG it detects it as a speedlink sl-6399 and I install that plugin. A lot of buttons work but when I press the green start button that would normally start WMC I get:

#1 (12, 0, 40, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0)

Any help solving this would be appreciated.

Regards,

What is there to be solved? You don't need EG if you just want the remote to do what it does normally. The beauty of EG is that it can accept any input (Event), and use that as a trigger for a wide variety of Actions. If what you described is really what you want to do with EG, use the Event - #1 (12, 0, 40, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0) - (it doesn't matter what it says, just that it is reproducible from pressing that remote key) as a trigger for a Macro to Start Application (under System in the pick list).

Hi KKL,

many thanks for the reply and maybe I am missing something. I have tried binding the command to a macro. In this case when I push the green window button it should start plex home theatre but nothing happens. I have included a screenshot. There is an exclamation mark next to the event which I assume in EG means it doesn't know what to do with t6he keypress?

Any help appreciated.

Well, that's an upside down exclamation point, also known as an i. :P I believe it stands for Information, and is not a valid Event, unfortunately. I don't know anything about that plug-in, so am not sure if if this is a bug or it wasn't designed to pass the Green Button. If there's another button you're not using, you can use it as the triggering Event.

Edit: It might be a hardware issue. According to this post, some hardware versions don't support Start, amongst other keys.

Edit2: Perhaps there is some help for you here.
