RM-868 RF MCE Remote

Post by ijourneaux »

I would like to try creating a plugin for the RM-868 RF MCE remote. I have tried using the hid and keyboard plugins but they only work partially. Are there any resources I can tap into to try and create a plug-in that would make effect use of this remote?
Thank you.

Yes ...

I created (actually, fixed) the PHX01RN plugin by using Advanced USB Port Monitor.

So, use that, and the source for the PHX01RN (now fixed in the newer EventGhost releases), or other WinUSB remote, as an example.
EventGhost 0.4.1.r1640
PHX01RN plugin v3.0.1
Windows XP 32bit (v5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2)
Windows7 64bit (v6.1 Build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Thanks for the comments. As I have played around with the different plug-in, I found that I could almost get things to work but I was not able to trap the volume up/down and power button (and others) that Windows seems to trap before the HID plugin in EventGhost.

Do you think that will be possible with the PHX01RN plugin?

I reviewed the PHX01RN plugin. Will this allow me to trap the codes that seem to be trapped by Windows before EventGhost? or does that require a change to the device dll?

Sorry, I did not mean that you should try using the PHX01RN plugin with your remote.

What I meant was that you can try to create a plugin by using another remote plugin as an example.

I was not aware that your remote uses a DLL as well.

Are you sure that your remote does not work with the MCE remote plugins?

Also, did you try and see what you get with a USB port monitor?

The PHX01RN, and all the other WinUSB type remotes do not require a DLL.

Sorry for confusing the issue. I didn't expect the PHX01RN plug in to work without modifications so no harm there <grin>. I had assumed that since this was an RF remote, that it would require a different plugin but I will try out the MCE remote plugin tonight. to see how far I get.

The Remote Controls topic might be useful...

Did you try to see what codes you get with Advanced USB Port Monitor for the Volume and Power buttons?
