Hi!
its like this , i have a android tablet mounted on the wall where i can turn the lights on and off in my house, im using a tellstick duo to do this, i also have my burglar alarm connected to the tellstick, so when i turn on the alarm, all the choosen lightbulbs and stuff turns off, and when i turn off the alarm, all the lights turns on again.
Im using a windows xp laptop as a server for these things, eventghost is also installed there.
My question is, is it possible to get the screen on the android tablet to turn off when i start the alarm, and turn on when i turn off the alarm?
can i somehow connect the tablet to eventghost in the windows laptop?
the android tablet is connected to the network trough wifi.

Re: App that turns off screen on an android device?
there is an app for android that has a specific feature. i don't recall the name of the app. but if you do some digging around i am sure you can find it.
but this is what it does. it turns the camera on your tablet into a motion sensor. and has quite a few settings to get it to not false trigger. but what it does its it turn the screen on if you stand in front of it. and turns it off when no one is there. i would do a search for camera motion standby screen things of that nature in the google play store

This is easily doable and you have a lot of different ways you can do it.
The easiest way if you don't have that much experience is using a combination of 2 programs with a few plugins.
You must have these:
- Eventghost
- Tasker (On your tablet, get in playstore)
- Autoremote for tasker
- Autoremote for eventghost
I won't explain how to setup everything here, as a quick google search will give you all the help you need. However if you need some help, just ask!
Locking and turning on the screen can be a bit hard on old tablets, so if you have one of those just ask again and i'll help. (You need to use keybindings if I recall correct).

i have installed the above mentioned softwares, but i cant really get to work, i have no experience at all when it comes to tasker and autoremote, i have also googled it but cant really find any easy answers,eirik226 wrote:Hello Tjabas!tjabas wrote:Hi!

Re: App that turns off screen on an android device?
I've been asked to do it already! I'll see if I can get a post up in the next few days, but got a very busy schedule, in the middle of exams on my Masters. I'll see what I can do during the weekend.
If you really need to set it up today I can be available on skype in a few hours. Just PM me.
