Surveillance cams that can UDP broadcast

I'm looking for Surveillance cams that can UDP broadcast (subsequently picked up by EG). Does anyone know if if e.g DCS-936L or equal, has support for UDP broadcasts?

D-Link's home cams have UDP support but they don't specify what they mean by that. UDP receiver or broadcast? and can it broadcast a UDP msg when motion is detected?

I guess i should try calling their local office and ask...

I don't have an answer to your question but I can say that I have been using the ability of camera's to upload a picture to an ftp server upon detection of motion.
I use the folderwatcher plugin to create actions upon motion detection (including temporarily switching on a monitor and showing the view of all cameras, the photo of the motion detection and temporary text on the screen using the OSD plugin).
This has been working rock solid for several years.

is there a specific reason as to why you want a camera that uses UDP? I ask this question because in all of my years of working with all kinds of electronic goodies. I have not one time seen an IP camera that does UDP. It doesn't mean that one does not exist.

You are able to access the video stream from the camera from EG if it is TCP also.

and to be honest with you. if you are going to bust out the wallet the only camera I would put any of my dollars on are made by Lorex. Lorex is a child company of FLIR (the inventors of night vision, and the manufacturer of HUD displays in fighter jets for the US military). They actually make a night vision camera that will display in full color. And the cameras have a great field of view as well as night vision distance.

I use I-Spy camera software and that has features that allow sending a UDP message on detection (and lots of other things). It's free and not had any issues with it for the 3 year I've used it.

is it important that the camera sends the message to EG? or can you use a piece of viewing software that has an API and we can get motion detection events that way?. Blue Iris is a suggestion if that is the case

blue iris allows for you to connect to a webpage when motion takes place. the webpage you would connect to is the EG webserver plugin in this case. doing exactly what you want in a kind of a round about manner.
