starting applications with Eventghost

Post by masterosok »

I use Eventghost to launch PowerDVD, XBMC and Maximus Arcade from my Harmony 880, however I am having the following issue. Many times when they I do this the application launches fine but is not the focus on the screen so none my remote buttons work unless I get up and use the mouse to click on the application. I am starting the applications in full-screen but for whatever reason they do not always launch in fullscreen. They window is maximized but I can still see the taskbar. Any advise? The problems doesn't always occur, sometimes it works fine other times it does what I have described so I am not sure what actually to do to counter this.

It isn't clear whether you are using EG to only start up the applications, or you are using plugins in EG to forward remote signals to the programs as well.

I ask, because many of the plugins will run actions in a program whether or not the the program has focus. So this could be a feature request to the plugins authors for the plugins that don't work as expected.

If, on the other hand, you just launch the programs and use something else to trigger commands, the following might work (I haven't tried it).

Assign the following additional actions to the macros to start the programs:
Window->Find A Window
Window->Bring To Front

Thanks for the info. I am using EG itself to launch the apps. (i.e. a "start application" macro pointed to the application's executable) Then I am using plugins to control some of the applications once they are launched. (PowerDVD and XBMC).

I will try what you suggested and see if it works.

That seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you very much.
