Maybe, your RF remote has an identical registry entry that you can be disabled.

martian_aphid sounds like you've been going through exactly the same process as I have. XBMC, Emprex remote, Eventghost - then lots of fiddling with events, key mappings, HID services etc
I intend to follow your final steps as it looks like you've got it all working. And this might be enough to do the trick.
However... the other option I'm looking into is just to buy a different remote (!). One that has an eventghost plugin already, and an XBMC keyboard xml - so it will just work straight away with no fiddling. Time taken to sort all this stuff out = LOTS. Cost to buy a remote that works out the box = NOT MUCH.
This also means I can get one with backlit keys - something I didn't realize I would need until I started using the remote in a darkened home-theatre setup!
Anyone care to make a suggestion?
Ideally RF as I need a range of around 8m (though I do have line of sight to the receiver)
Must have a USB dongle-style receiver
Must have backlit keys
Must have plugins for eventghost
Must have xbmc mapping
Must work out the box!
