Hi Rainer,
Thanks, I have been testing your fee light Egremote. However, I have an Archos 70 Internet Tablet running android 2.2.1 (I believe this is as high as this tablet can go) and it will not let me choose an icon to apply to the test-event that I have added (all previous stuff in your youtube tutorial up to that point works).
In fact, as soon as I click the Browse button to find an icon, it immediately gives me an error message which translates from Dutch as: "Alas, the application EGRemote (process eu.rml.labl.egremote_lite) has been terminated unexpectedly. Please try again." Only option is then to choose the 'close application now' (which actually brings me back to the macro edit tab). Other option says 'report', which brings me to a google complaints window (which I don't want to use).
I have been having issues with another application as well (Astro Player), which did not let me download and store podcasts. I am not sure if this could be related (maybe some sort of access rights issue?).
Anyway, maybe you have some thoughts on this, otherwise it ends here for me.

Hi Perry,
when you click browse to select an icon, EGRemote just opens an installed file browser that let's you select the image file. Did you try to install "Astro" or "ES file manager"?
There is a bugfix which will be included in the next release. A message will be shown when no app is found that can handle the file browse request.

No, good suggestion that I will try later as soon as I get some time.
Thanks!

I've just released version 2.0. The grid has been removed, you can now freely place buttons and resize them.
Have fun!

Bummer, latest update 2.0 gives me the following message upon startup (before the program can even start):
Alas!
The application EGRemote (process eu.rml.lab.egremote_lite) has terminated unexpectedly.
please try again.
Two buttons appear below in this window: Close Now or Report.
Report lets me send the report (I guess), the Close Now closes and then nothing happens.
For your information: I have also installed Astro, so it should be possible for the program to work with files and folders....
Don't know what to try next.

Moin Rainer,
Siutsch.

Hi,
I know, unfortunately there was a bug in the layout handling. I fixed this yesterday in Version 2.1.
Can you please let me know if it works?
@Perry: What happens when you try to open files with 2.1? There is a check whether you have installed a file browser now.

OK, I now managed to browse for icons, but I did not find any???
I click Browse, have to wait a few seconds than it opens /mnt/storage, where there are many folders, but none of them have the name EGRemote.
I then chose another picture that I found in folder mnt/storage/Pictures (I guess these are standard picturs that come factory standard on the device).
This does add the picture/icon on the layout.
Now when I press the icon, the program crashes (a windows asks to wait or close immediately, waiting does not help).
So, some progress, still no cigar.
I am also a bit curious about the process of Eventghost servers. On my PC I have a network sender and receiver.
On the Android device, I can add servers: which IP address should I give these: the Android device or the IP address of the PC that Eventghost is running on?

Hi Perry,
I do not provide icons at the moment, there are many free icon packs just use google. You can copy those icons (jpg,png,bmp,...) to your android device via USB or use a web storage service like Dropbox.
When exactly does EGRemote crash? When it returns from the file browser?
Here is a short description howto establish a connection between your EG Server and the android device:
Sending events from your PC to the android device:
Use the network event sender plugin, set IP and port of the device you want to send to (your android device). Optionally set a password.
On the android device goto options, under network event receiver set port and password and mark the "Start background service" checkbox.
Receiving events at your PC from the android device:
Use the network event receiver plugin, set port and password. On the android device goto options. Add a name for your new EG Server and click 'Add'.
Now enter your PC's IP and Port, optionally a password. Define a Macro with an action 'Network Event' and select the EG Server you just added as target. Enter a text for the network event.
You just need to add a trigger for the action, e.g. a button and you're done.
Hope this helps, otherwise let me know.

Hi,
