Please give me a example. The webb interface stuff you can skip.
You need the test version
here.
One way is to use the
HTTPAPI command
PlayFile (in the Commands that generate actions category), the file path needs to be accessible from XBMC, if the webinterface is on another computer you can't use a local path directly.
Hope this helps. If you have questions related to XBMCRepeat please use this

Hi
I'm using windows 7, EG 0.3.7.R1462 with xbmc 10.0 and a Harmony One Remote. Everything is working fine but I get some "unknown code received" for some commands not on the original remote. Can I use these new codes for other commands? Do I have to edit an xml file to add the codes to make them usable by EventGhost and the XBMC plugin.
Any help would be great
Thanks

this means EG does not recognize the codes - thus they are not mapped.
What remote do you have your Harmony mimicing?
What IR receiver are you using?
What buttons on your remote are showing the issue?
What exact EG plugin are you using for XBMC?

Hi
I found this post at XBMC and it did what I needed....
I have a remote that is MCE extender for original Xbox. It has some additional buttons similar to a real MCE remote.
To make EventGhost recognize:
I fixed by adding the following to Program Files/EventGhost/plugins/XBCDRC/_init_.py
Look for
Code:
'0064f0a': 'AUDIO',
'006af0a': 'ENT.'
and add following behind it so it now looks like this:
Code:
'0064f0a': 'AUDIO',
'006af0a': 'ENT.',
'006c40a': 'POWER',
'006310a': 'MYTV',
'006090a': 'MYMUSIC',
'006060a': 'MYPICTURES',
'006070a': 'MYVIDEOS',
'006e80a': 'RECORD',
'006250a': 'START',
'006d00a': 'VOLUP',
'006d10a': 'VOLDOWN',
'006c00a': 'MUTE',
'006d20a': 'CHPGUP',
'006d30a': 'CHPGDOWN',
'006650a': 'RECORDEDTV',
'006180a': 'LIVETV',
'006280a': 'ASTERISK',
'006290a': 'HASH',
'006f90a': 'CLEAR'
Note that you have to add a comma after the ENT line above, there normally is no comma.

Hi,
Yep, you ran into a limitation with the XBCDRC plugin. When I made it I only added the codes for the original remote since that's the one I have. I'll add your codes to the plugin so it too works out-of-the-box.
Thanks for reporting.

New XBMC plugin in EG r1486, I like the changes (except for having to re-map all my XBMC buttons because it's not compatible w/the old EG version plugin!)
Anyway...I'm looking for an XBMC command that will show the Movie Info while browsing the guide. When I'm navigating TV shows, and pass "Info" via EG to xbmc, it shows the descriptor overlay window (just as if you had right-clicked/context menu'ed and gone to Episode Information). However, this does NOT work when I am navigating Movies. I was unable to find a xbmc command listed in EG that will show this window when browsing movies. Is there one, or would I have to edit the xbmc xml keymap myself? Seems like the new EG plugin in r1486 has everything but the kitchen sink in it, such that such an obvious command should already be there. Did I just miss it, or is it not there?
I guess same question regarding bringing up the "Search Library" function in XBMC. When I asked for a hotkey about it in the XBMC forums a dev told me to edit the keymap myself there...again, seems like too important a function to have to manually create it. Is there a command in the new EG plugin for XBMC that will skip straight to the search library window? If not, I would REALLY appreciate if there were.
Keep up the excellent, excellent work...I've been hooked on EG since I heard about it god knows how many hundreds of .r# 's ago.

Hi, I think I might be missing something. I can't figure out how to configure EventGhost with my Logitech UltraX Media Remote to do all the functions properly. Here is my problem: XBMC has a "global" configuration and then a different one for "videos" so with the keyboard, pressing "enter", selects items in menus as well as shows the OSD when playing a video. I am trying to mimick this with EvenGhost and my remote, but I can't without assigning the enter button on the remote to both actions "XBMC: Select" and "XBMC: Show OSD". This pretty much works except it seems a bit messy and every time I "select" a movie from the list the OSD pops up as soon as the video starts. From what I can understand the only way to resolve this would be for the plugin to have a global actions as well as video ones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great plugin, and program!

My
XBMC2 plugin should make you do what you want.
It's included in the latest versions of EventGhost and replaces the old XBMC plugin and adds a lot more functionality.
By using the "Remote" or "Gamepad" specific actions you control different parts of XBMC with the same buttons.

jonib,
It might be helpful to describe/comment on some of the Macro as it is a bit confusing, just by the label, as to what some of them exactly do. I had to play around a while to figure out what Macros jumped you back to the Home Screen vs up one menu level, etc.
Also, since there is a lot of overlap in the sections - it might help to explain something like... 'Remote' is the core section. Put all commands here first. If there are other commands not contained here that you need look into other sections. There are duplicate commands in other sections - use these only when you want to tie them to a different button/command/action than during the rest of the times when using XBMC.
... or something like that.

Right now I'm finishing a tool that makes it easier for me to add any action descriptions from XBMCs website like
this and
this.
Unfortunately all actions are not documented (or I haven't found it), If anybody wants to help with useful descriptions for any actions I wouldn't mind the help, but wait till after I release the next version as there are a lot of changes to the actions and descriptions.

Where? as that is basically what I have written on the first page in the
XBMC2 thread under the screenshot.
Or if you mean in the plugin I'm working on improving and adding more help/descriptions.
I know good documentation is important. unfortunately doing the documentation stuff is boring for me and I'm bad at it. And the limited energy I have to do stuff like this plugin I tend to work on the functionality as it's more fun/challenging/educational.
I have asked this once before, I would really appreciate help with the documentation/tutorials to be put in the plugin or the
XBMC2 support thread.

yes, I was talking about the statement below
The idea is to use buttons from the "Remote" or "Gamepad" folders to get the same functionality that is on the XBMC on the XBOX when using a remote or a gamepad, as "Remote" and "Gamepad" buttons are defined in XBMCs "Keymap.xml" and thus are context sensitive and then to complement any missing functions from the different action groups that are not context sensitive.
... I'm a bit confused as to the way you intended it to be used. I could be using it wrong. Though I don't think there needs to be a huge how-to.
I feel the readme needs to accomplish your intended usage method...
a) what sections/folders should be populated first
b) what sections/folders are populated, as needed and how these affects functionlaity
Something like this (again, this may be incorrect as I may not understand your design fully)...
'Remote' is the main folder to use - Put all your general commands here first. Example: navigating menus, starting/stopping playback, etc.
Other folders are used based on their context in XBMC. If there are buttons/commands you wish to remap based on specific context in order to control differently that the commands in the 'Remote' folder.
Example:
'Remote' folder "Arrow Up" moves the menu selection up one item. You can map "Arrow Up" inside 'Media Playing' folder to mean something different.
