Actually I'm not getting any durable events to work. On a button with durable selected all eg just shows "TCP.button ['192.168.0.14', u'withoutRelease']. I also exported, uninstalled, reinstalled and imported and still the same. Also after import all of my buttons have been resized and the alignment is off. A bug possibly? Also a question for you, is there a way to get the snap tool to show up? Seems like it just comes up randomly and when I want to change it I can't get it to populate. Thanks

It appears that since the latest update, I no longer have position settings for the buttons. I can alter the width and height but not the top and left coordinates. Is there a setting to allow this?

@bryanleesterk: There was indeed still a bug with that. I uploaded a new version that should fix this. It should be online in a few hours. It also contains the "on press" and "on release" actions. The panel for clipping always appears when you start dragging a widget and vanishes after a few seconds (I assume that this is what you were referring to). There was an issue when you switch layouts while in edit mode. The panel could not appear after that. This should be fixed in 1.28. Please report if the behavior is not as described.

@ntk1: Receiving UDP signals is now supported in 1.28. Let me know if there are still problems.

@therealbiglou: There haven't been any changes in this. Did you maybe activate the "simple" mode for editing widgets? Just check if there is a button "advanced" at the bottom of the editing mask.

Looking great! The clipping and import export issues seem to be fixed (thank you, saved me a ton of time in not having to rescale everything). I am seeing and issue with the "action on click" and "action on long click". It seems that after the "long click" is achieved and the button released, the event for "action on click" is sent. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Once again thank you for your hard work on this app! BTW if you ever need any beta testers I would be more than grateful to help out.

Whoops!

You were right about the advanced settings! I forgot to check for that since I was use to seeing the advanced settings for so long. Thanks!

Oh sorry, forgot to post the update, here :-)
You are right about the false click behavior. This will be fixed in the new version along with some other things. I think I'll upload it tonight.

About beta-testing: Thanks for the offer, I'll come back to you! The next "bigger" project is information retrieval directly from XBMC (current track info and so on), using its lates interface. I will need testers for that. If you are using terRemote for direct XBMC control, I can send you the beta version.

Best
Chris

Chris,
instead of reinventing the wheel, why not take what you have built for EG and convert it to be a plugin for by far the best xbmc remote, yatse?

I also use terremote to control xbmc on a raspberry pi running rasbmc. so personally I think cutting the middle man (eg) out is a great thing for people using this to control xbmc on Linux boxes, Macs, appletv, etc. just my two cents.

Hi Livin,

a plugin for Yatse is certainly an interesting idea, although I don't see if it is really necessary. While Yatse is a remarkable app, it is a classic one-click-to-set-up remote. EventGhost, on the other hand, is quite the opposite, giving you lots of possibilities but you have to put some work into it. (In the same spirit as terRemote ^^)
I added XBMC support basically for the reason that bryanleesterk described, being able to control my Raspberry AND other stuff on the Pi or a Windows machine with the same app and even in the same layout.

I don't know if it is possible to write a plugin in which I get the XBMC information / send the commands over Yatse. Maybe that's what you meant. Anyway, I guess that would take about the same amount of work.

Best
Chris

Chris,
I understand your point - just making a suggestion for those of us (like me) that only use XBMC. Your app looks great I just don't have a need for it today because I use Yatse and have EG macros trigger based on XBMC events. I'm even to the point that I can remove EG if I moved a few macros (Zone 2 on/off, Audio mode setting, etc) to my MiCasaVerde Vera device.

thanks for making a great app for the community.

Chris,

Is it possible to have a "durable" option when setting up Macro Actions?

Also, I know it was briefly mentioned a while ago but, how close are you to implementing a "gesture" widget which could be used for navigation instead of the traditional Up/Down/Left/Right/Enter buttons?

Here are a couple other wishlist items:

-Ability to use terRemote as the Android home screen.
-Ability to add actual Android widgets along with terRemote widgets
-Skin-able Sliders
-Knob widget (Skin-able)
-Toggle/Switch widget (i.e on/off) Skin-able

Still the best EG client out!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I didn't get much done lately. Things have been busy here.
There will be a small update next week with some overdue bugfixes.

Anyway, the gesture widget is among the top items on my list, along with the customable sliders. I'll work on your other ideas as well but there is no way to tell when they will come. One question, though:
When you say "home screen", do you mean the "lock screen" that appears when you reactivate your device? I'm not sure if using terRemote as home screen (i.e. as a launcher app) is realistic in the foreseeable future. The lock screen feature is.

The toggle/switch widget can be emulated by using the "Widget Data -> Set Design" action and then having two designs "switch on"/"switch off". Or you can use the "Widget Data -> Set Icon" action for showing the picture glowing or non-glowing led. I agree that a special widget would be easier.
