Ok I figured it out to be something with the latest Windows Update. I rolled back the latest update and everything started to work ok again.

I have zipped up the entire folder except for lib27. Currently when I did a system restore back it put me back on rc5 right now so if you upgrade you can see what maybe happening to mine. I am running Windows 10 build 1809 with last weeks updates as I had to roll back Patch Tuesday updates.

there is a known issue with the latest build and EG. This has been solved and you can download a working copy by clicking on the build button at the top of the forum. that will bring you to the place where you can download the latest working build of EventGhost

I do not know if you had that issue mentioned above or not. sending me the copy of EG does not help me at all. I need to know what the errors are. I also need to see the debugging log file for EG. this can be created by starting EG with the -debug parameter from a command prompt. the log file gets placed in %appdata%/eventghost.

Ok will run it with debug code. BTW the problem happened again stupid Windows Update did something even when I rolled update back. It causes some very weird behavior it would cause a second Media Player Classic with no video to open then it would control volume of the no video one. If I closed that blank mpc-hc then volume control would stop working again.

So I did a System Restore once again back to before the Windows update and everything started working good again. Currently I went and downloaded Windows Update Blocker v1.1 and have totally disabled Windows Update for now.

hence the reason I am still on Windows 7. ll the BS started with Windows 8.

I really agree if it was not for my new build with Ryzen 7 2700x, Asus Rog Strix Gaming-F mobo, with the 32GB Ballistix memory I would of stayed with Windows 7. With major upgrade comes problems regrettably.

Windows 7 does not have drivers for the Ryzen processor.

I also want to point out something to ya. I have stated this many many times. It's a kind of a slap in the face when you really think about it.


OK so you have one of the largest software companies in the world. and that company made it's fortune off of a single piece of software. Windows. this is thee single thing that made Microsoft as large as it is. Now why in the hell would that company decide to simply give away it's largest money maker? You think it is out of the kindness in their hearts?.... what's the motivation?... personal data... so instead of Microsoft collecting money from you a single time (when you buy Windows) they are able to collect money for as long as you are running the OS. They collect that personal data and sell it. why do you think that there is no way to stop a Windows update?. other then using some kind of 3rd party mechanism to do so?. Isn't that illegal? You own the computer. You own the software on the computer. You own the data. is it not illegal to modify, delete, create data on a computer that you do not own and do not have express permission to do so? why yes It is.. So if you turn off Windows Update (stopping thee service) why is it that it starts back up and will do an update anyway. or if you tell it no you do not want to do an update. it still does it. So tell me how Windows changing your data on your hdd without your permission is not illegal??? Just because it is changing stuff in your Windows installation path does not make it theirs.

OK so here is thee skinny Microsofts response is complete BULLSHIT. Windows has been redirecting files since Windows Vista and the use of symbolic links. a symbolic link is a file. so riddle me this. how would the creation of a file delete anything? that process may bee on the other side of the planet from deleting something. there is no "bug" or some kind of a typo that would cause this action to take place. So now my next question is this. why is it even poking around your personal data folders in the first place? It is an OS update. it should be updating the OS files and making any changes that are necessary to the OS. if there has to be some kind of interaction with your personal data for some reason why is it not telling you that it is doing this?

IDK if you remember when they first released Windows 10 people ended up getting locked out of their PC's. Unable to sign in but with a single user account. and the Error given was Invalid Password when you tried to login with one of those other accounts. those posed a very large issue if you had any files encrypted with that user account. they could not be opened with any other account. and if you deleted the account to make a new one you may as well pitch those files because the access keys to open those files are now lost. I am the person that found out what happened and how to fix it. At that point in time I decided not to use Windows 10. because after 6 months Microsoft still had not released an update to fix that issue. 6 Months?!??!?! when the answer was given to them as to the cause. and a solution was given to them to let the user log back in. They did nothing but ignore it. They didn't even acknowledge the problem. They didn't provide any information to the user about how to get back in to those user accounts. Nothing. Not a damned thing.

I would run a different OS. Problem is Linux is becoming a fat cow just like Windows. and screw crapintosh they are more of a lets f over the customer then any of the other OS companies. I will stick to my always running never failing highly modified copy of Windows 7 x64 SP2 that has uptimes of over a year (only because I have to dust out the inside).

Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 all use the same drivers. The only difference is which OS the driver has been signed for. (costs money and is a pain in the ass to do).

You need to disable the driver signing check and you need to forcefully push the driver into the OS.

and do you think that your computer will not run with windows 7 installed??? It will. and what features do you gain from having drivers for the processor? What does AMD have in their drivers that unlock some kind of magical mystical processing power?... hmmm.... I am willing to bet nothing but a pretty little icon when you go into device manager.

that "driver" is nothing more then an overclocking monitor which can be done with a plethora of 3rd party software (CPUID, Speed Fan).

Ok here it is the log when EventGhost stopped working. In fact when I try to use any control it would launch a blank mpc-hc64.exe with nothing playing or loaded in it. So I would end up with one window with video playing and a blank window.

ok so I need an update on this.

is the problem with Windows 10 and a plugin
or is the problem with Windows 10 and EG?

I am not sure what you mean by using any of the controls..

You need to be extremely specific.
I need an exact steep by step instruction on how to reproduce the problem.
I need an extremely detailed description of what occurs.

what controls?
where are the controls located?
why would EG be launching mpc-hc64.exe??

If i am not able to replicate an issue there is no way I am going to be able to fix it.

If this is a problem with a plugin then help needs to be sought out in the support topic for that plugin on the forum.
Plugins are not apart of the core functionality of EG. how to know if it is a plugin?. click on Add Action if it is listed in there it is a plugin.

Hey guys,

It's been a while since the last official release of EG, infact we're still on the defective RC6 (major issue for me that you can't add some plugins because you can't change a setting in it's configuration, if there is nothing to configure).
Moreover the stable release is still 0.4 while 0.5 rc in general runs pretty stable.
I'm wondering if we should maybe reconsider /postpone the milestones and finally push out the release of 0.5.

What do you think?
