Also, on the main eg page, I think the ad could be moved to the bottom of the page.

jitterjames wrote:Zian, didn't you make backup of the files you were changing? The simplest solution would be to go and find those and grab the stuff that you took out. The first step when going in and mucking about with something would have been to make a backup first.

I used to have a backup of those pages, but ironically I think I erased it during a recent purge. In any case I can't seem to find it.

It seems pretty obvious to me that if you are responsible for the damage, you should not expect someone else to fix it. Not trying to be mean, but it I think it needs to be said.
I agree.

Update...

It's probably best that I not fuck with the innerworkings of the hosting of eventghost.net anymore.
While it's still working... sorta.

I can barely handle html 1.2. And I have proven I can't do a thing properly with php and css and etc etc.

Want / need a nav bar in the forum section?
try this instead... http://www.eventghost.net/

Wan't to try to HELP ME get the nav bar working in the forum area?
Speak up.

Thanks.

Hey guys,

I would love to help in anyway I can. If that means being a moderator or something.

I have experience in PHP / HTML. Also, I've been looking to get Tapatalk integrated maybe this is a good time for that too.

Sounds sweet cfull,
Thanks.

Let's start small,
See here...
http://web.archive.org/web/201208170536 ... org/forum/

The nav bar in the header at the top.
Would that be in/from an HTML file?
A php file?

Also there are sets of files for the whole site at GoDaddy.
And then a set of just configurable phpbb files that can be seen/changed here from the phpbb admin control panel.

I have my hands on the old navbar code I just can't find/see where the heck to put it to get it up in the forum header. If it would be in an html, php' at GoDaddy or camn ne done via phpbb acp

Cfull would really appriciate your help and knowledge but just to start if you could try to talk me through the "simple" stuff. After that and we "get to know ya" we can maybe turn over some keys.
If you want to work through pm, email, Skype we could do that too.

Also... Long-term it would be nice if every area of eventghost looked unified.
This place looks a shambles. It works and it may not be a real high priority but this website is pretty ugly. Every section looks different. What's up with that?

Update...

Changed overall_header.HTML.
Added what I thought were old nav bar code.
Failed.

Changed it right back.
Walking away again.
Hands off... again.

For the time being, my initial offer stands; you'll understand, though, I'm sure, when I say I have zero interest in being "on call" to put out the fires started by others.

Yes, I can fix the site. Yes, I can unify the site. No, I'm not willing to put in the requisite time and effort until I'm extended the trust and respect I believe I've earned.

For the record, I'm all for this. Phpbb is outdated and vbulletin looks so much better. The rest of the site needs an overhaul as well.

Blackwind, I understand not wanting to put out other peopled fires, but I hope that doesn't mean a few trusted individuals cannot make updates.

This doesn't necessarily reduce the single points of failure though, if that was the goal.

The "putting out fires" comment was in reference to the one-off fix-it work currently being requested of me.

Where necessary, access will certainly be granted to a trusted few, but expect automation wherever it makes sense. Realistically, the only portion of the site that needs to be regularly updated is the downloads section, and that's better handled as part of the build process. When the Git repository is ready, I expect you and I will collaborate on that front.

In terms of single points of failure, if I flake out, the rest of what I do also goes down with the ship. Needless to say, that won't be happening.

Nothing that puts the account in any danger of being suspended. I prefer to keep my worlds separate, but I assume that's the bottom line you're looking for.
