Timer is a great plug-in.

However, I noticed that it creates all the missed events according to the set interval when the system resumes from Standby.
Example:

Timer is set to 60 seconds using unlimited intervals (e.g. a simple clock timer).
System suspends on 06:00 PM.
System resumes on 07:00 PM the same day.

-> before System.Resume is triggered all missed 60 timer events (1 h time difference) are triggered before.

One can imagine what this can lead to if you have your PC resume from beeing in standby for a week or so.

My current fix is to abort the timer on the System.Suspend event and reinitialize it on System.Resume, which works just fine.

I would not call this a faulty behaviour and maybe it has been implemented intentionally but what about adding a checkbox to let the user choose how the timer plugin should behave in case of a resume from standby?

Thanks.

I actually thought of canceling a timer on suspend/resume.
If no one complains I will do this in the near future.

I've held off for a long time, but now that I'm revisiting this, I just can't seem to make time work for me.
Is there a doc somewhere to check out?

Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to use Timer to trigger a LibrayUpdate macro once per day.
I have a timer set to go off at 2am each day with an event name of "Timer.UpdateVid"
I then have a macro that contains the event Timer.UpdateVid along with the XMBC action to Update the video library.
It looks something like below, but when I hit 'test' the only thing I see in my log is the Timer event. No trigger.
Fail.

Can anyone get me on track and show me the error of my ways?

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <EventGhost Name="Configuration Tree" Expanded="True" Version="1262" Guid="{E0798B74-3CB2-4AB7-9778-E6323F14FE04}" Time="1261411792.77">

  </Autostart>
- <Folder Name="XBMC" Expanded="True">
- <Macro Name="Update Video Library" Expanded="True">

  <Action>XBMC.UpdateVideoLibrary()</Action>
  </Macro>

Hi,

<Action>Timer.TimerAction(u'Update_Vid_Lib', 0, 0, 86400.0, u'Timer.UpdateVid', False, True, 2, u'02:00:00')</Action>

should be

<Action>Timer.TimerAction(u'Update_Vid_Lib', 0, 0, 86400.0, u'UpdateVid', False, True, 2, u'02:00:00')</Action>

otherwise the fired event would be 'Timer.Timer.UpdateVid'.

Ahhh-
Thank you very much.
Presently the 'Test' button does not fire off the Event in 'Event name:', the only thing that shows up in the log is Timer: Start new...
It would be helpful if 'Test' also fired the Timer.whatever event to actually test the trigger.

I'm in business though. Appreciate the assistance.

You have start a Timer on some event.
The timer then will trigger an event you can use to call your wake up macro

so without an event i can't start the timer? The event you mean it's a IR command? So i need 2 macro? One with event - trigger - timer? Or event - timer - trigger? And then another macro? And how I call the macro with timer?

Actually anything in EG ist driven by events. You could open the EventGhost window and launch a macro manually but that is not practically for every day use.
You need at least one event that launches a macro starting the timer.

So i need to put in the wake up macro first the event and then the timer and then all the rest? And there isn't a way to set a macro start without any event? I need to repeat the waku up macro every morning... I need every time to push the key I've linked to macro? And if i push the key and then restart the pc when pc wake up it don't restart the timer right? My pc start automatically in the morning :P

You don't need any timer action in the wake up action. Just assign FROM the timer plugin.
You could use the wake up macro to set up a new timer or let the timer repeat itself after 24 hours but for long timed periods you might be better off triggering an event with the windows task scheduler and use the command line parameter.

I had double clicked on timer plugin and it don't show me any timer... Where i can add a timer to let it display it? Or what's the command line parameter to use with windows scheduler? And were I need to put it? Sorry but i don't really understand and i can't find a guide or other for that! Thank you for your help
