libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Thanks Barnabas. I got everything working more or less thee way I want it.
Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Would you be willing to help me understand how you can get your TV to transmit CEC with remote button presses? I have installed this in EG and it seems to be working beautifully, however, my TV no longer transmits remote button presses (up, down, select, etc) through CEC when using the plugin. Like a previous poster, if i disable the plugin, xbmc picks it up and my buttons work perfectly. When using the plugin, I see 2 additional devices in my TV's cec menu "XBMC" and "Player1" but selecting either results in a "cannot connect" error. My TV connects automatically to my receiver (even without the pulse eight) so i don't know if that can be the cause. I'm a total noob but logically i would suspect that I would need to spoof a playback device somehow to trick the TV into enabling the remote buttons over cec. Any suggestions are much appreciated!!!barnabas1969 wrote:I have it setup to work both ways. That way, I don't have to give a visitor a 15 minute training class on how to use my programmable remote. I can just hand them the simple TV remote, and away they go.

TV: Samsung UN60ES6500
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-1121
Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
I would edit my previous post but it hasn't been approved by the mods yet. Upon further tinkering, i discovered that if I close out of eventghost entirely (close from system tray) and close xbmc then "XBMC" still shows up as a device in my anynet settings on my TV. Interestingly enough, i can select it and then fire up eventghost and the remote buttons then trigger events in EG. I am really scratching my head on this one.

I posted my EG config in this post:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5907#p29561
Take a look at it. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Not sure if this is your issue, but XBMC has support for the pulse-eight adapter built in. It will take control of the adapter and automatically interprets cec traffic and converts that to commands in xbmc. In order to use this plugin, you must disable the built-in feature of xbmc (only one interface can take control of the cec-adpater at a time), and manually create events and actions in event ghost that trigger or interpret cec traffic as needed. It's not for the faint of heartdrumstyk1 wrote:I would edit my previous post but it hasn't been approved by the mods yet. Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Hi
Can anyone help me get this running, I'm on win8.1 x64.
I've added the plugin to eventghost, but when I start it I get loads of errors.
I think I'm missing cec-client.exe, at what point does this get installed? I've got cec-tray.exe?

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
hi robomonkey,
this plugin requires the cec-client.exe coming from pulse 8.
if that is running without errors please come back.
to get that running you may need to contact their support.

Hi thanks for your reply.
My first problem though, is I can't find where to download cec-client.exe! I can't find it on pulse 8.

Hi all.
please make a short note about which configurations this plugin is working.
It could help to get an impression for new users.

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Kasinator,
I'm not sure what you mean by "which configurations". Do you mean what CE components we are using?
I'm using a Samsung plasma TV model PN64D8000, a Yamaha AVR model RX-A2010, a Windows 7 Media Center PC, and a Roku 3 (which doesn't respond to CEC commands, but I am "emulating" the Roku in my EG config and "translating" the CEC commands into Ethernet commands so that I can control the Roku using the TV's IR remote).

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
Hi there,
I have installed this plugin on windows 8.1 64bit on a bay trail nuc. The pulse-eight cec-client is working fine and the plugin starts the client correctly. However, if I try any action through the eg plugin like tvoff, the command does not execute. EG then says "CEC client not accepting inputs". There is no log created for this in cec-client so it seems the command does not reach the client at all.
I have enabled all user permissions for the program cec-client. I also tried enabling "always run as administrator" but then the eg plugin is not able to start cec client at all, so I switched that off again. Can anyone help me with this? The cec client is not useful for me without the eg plugin controlling it....
Thanks in advance!

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
First off, thanks for writing this plugin. I've been able to get it integrated with my eventghost config but have been running into trouble with the TvOn command. TvOff works just fine though. I've tried manually sending the "on 0" command via eventghost but still no go. With both TvOn methods I think I'm getting the right response, but the tv (kuro) just doesn't click. Everything seems to work fine with the cec tray app though. Any ideas? What type of log/debug would be helpful?
Thanks,
Dustin
Thanks,

Re: libCEC plugin for Pulse Eight HDMI-CEC usb adapter
hi.
try a query for tv power status and if response is 'off' add an event handler to switch on via remote button emulation.
this is how i do it because my tv messes up handshake with amplifier if I send on while it is active.
on cec-o-matic (my first post) you can decode or compose
the commands.
