I don't understand. Just to be sure, I downloaded it from my post. That file is the Jul. 15, 2016 version, the latest that I know about or can find on Denon's website.

OK i se what is going on... even tho Denon and Marantz are the same company.. there are different API's

I went and downloaded the one for Marantz. and the one you sent over is from Denon..

and they are in fact different. alot of the commands are the same.. but there are differences..

and also you do find the highest end AVR and grab the API from there?? I don't know what model you have but if there are differences between Marantz and Denon. there may be differences. between the models.. the highest end model which has more function. would have every command available. they may not list those commands on different models..

I am going to have a look see at Denon's website

it is like i said.. the files are different between the models.

it looks as tho the highest end model has the complete list. and they remove commands from the list for the various models. But it looks as tho the highest end one has all the commands,

the one i downloaded from Marantz as well as denon from the highest model from each website. the list i am sure is identical..

funny thing is the files are named differently..

they come across as Denon.pdf and Marantz.pdf.. and they aren't pdf's they are xlsx and the file from Denon is messed up and excel has to recover data from one of the workbooks.

and I have been wanting to replace my AVR and was going to go with Marantz but hell with how simple something like this kind of an API should be they sure did mess it all up. they can't even get the file extensions correct and are posting corrupted files. LMAO... makes me wonder how the quality of their AVR is.

I am going to connect to your AVR this evening. if it is OK with you??? but i also need to know what input you have nothing connected to so if i test the volume i do not want it to play anything..

AFAIK, the spreadsheets cover all of the current models at the time they are published. Which commands apply to each model are covered in the columns on the far right of the Command tab. With that many commands there are bound to be a few differences between Denon and Marantz, but not many. The current top of the line Denon is the AVR-X6300H, and that is the protocol file I attached.

I've disabled the plug-in so you can connect. Sometimes it takes a couple of times of Disable then Enable. The Main Zone inputs you can use that have nothing connected are Game (4) and CD (7). I'll be using Zone2 for another hour, then you can mess with that.

that is not the case... seriously download the AIP for the higher model denon.. you will see more commands in there... You would think they would just release one data sheet to cover them all...

if you do go and download the higher model one.. you will have to change the extension from pdf to xlsx not xls and you will have to tell Excel to recover the damaged data.. you will understand..

sorry i did not get a chance to work on it this evening.. possibly tomorrow. I ended up redoing the EventGhost power notifications and added some things to it that i think people would use.. like battery level. monitor state, and what kind of power is running the computer. I also fixed the turn monitor on action for windows 8+

but i will get on this more tomorrow... I did however have some time to change a couple of things.. in eg 0.5 there is a nice add event dialog so I added the code to populate that. and i worked on the debugging end of things. i do have the data storage already set up to eliminate any duplicate events.. that will quiet things down a lot.. I just have to figure out how to handle when a user specifically requests a status. I think that because most of the commands are the same as the responses it should be pretty easy to clear it so it will show.

but I will have to add extra stuff for the ones that aren't the same.

And that's what I posted, the file for the AVR-X6300H, not one that is 'very old'. The Denon and Marantz control protocol is the same, word for word. The only difference is which commands apply to which receiver. I agree there are more commands available on the Denon list, so it made sense to use that.

But why are you torturing yourself trying to include every single arcane command? My guess is that 90+% of these commands will never be used by any EG user ever. And for someone who wants the oddball command, they can look it up and enter it manually. As a common EG user, I'd rather you spend your valuable time on all of the other EG projects that you've been creating and enhancing (not that I get a vote on what you choose to do).

the 6300 is not the top... there is one above it...

you will have to rename it

all i did was rename the extension.. the file actually comes through as Denon.pdf. and you have to change the extension to xlsx. i changed the extension to txt to be able to send it to the board

it's semantics. it doesn't matter.. I just don't understand why a company would do that.

I think i may take a day of from working on my house. i did something to my elbow and it's killing me. I I might put in a good chunk of the day programming.. maybe get this plugin 100% finished. if you are around today to test the thing.. let me know..

The "one above it", the AVR-X7200WA, is actually an older model. It came out a couple of years ago but is still being sold. The current batch of receivers have a 3 as the second number in the model name. 2 is the previous generation. The file you attached is dated July 8, 2014 (See Control Protocol tab, cell O1). The one I uploaded was updated for the AVR-X*300 models and is dated July 15, 2016 (cell O1). I didn't know you were looking at the 7200 or I would have explained this. but what is interesting is it has the exact same commands as the flagship marantz and the sheet for the marantz is dated 2015 but the flagship is in the list of supported and it came out in 2016 i believe

bah that whole damned company has their heads up their asses.

I don't know which one to use and for what. So i guess i am going to just have to put something together to take all of the current lists from all of the current models. and mash them all together and cross my fingers that all the commands are there... what a pain.. maybe i should send an e-mail first

Here is another test version.. I aded alot more events. and also sorted out the volume... I may have found an error in how the data was coming in and fixed it.. but again this was with my test setup and not a real AVR so i do not know if the problem existed when connect to an AVR.

I also have it spitting out some debugging information. so let me know if you are still having odd commands coming in

Sorry for the delay; got busy with something else. Only tested a minority of commands, but looks like the same problem with responses/events. Starting out 'fresh', everything works pretty well, but before very long, the responses/events don't match the last command. I probably need to try setting up a manual telnet connection to issue commands and see what's happening directly. Examples:

The AVR really wants to hold open the telnet connection, so even after stopping and restarting EG, there's often a traceback error:

Sometimes disabling then enabling the plug-in works to get it connected, but sometimes I have to pull the plug on the receiver. I don't know if there is some programmatic way for you to force a disconnection first.

Just wanted to give you this limited feedback for now; more to test/check.

OK i am going to have it write to a text file everything so is going back and forth...

and you have absolutely nothing else connected to it??.. no apps no sessions using the webportal on the thing... Nothing like that???

OK i believe i fixed the socket locking up problem. it should close gracefully now.

I also fixed the problem where the volume bar and volume payload would show up for almost everything... and changed out the characters in the volume payload to something a little nicer.

I added a more complex debugging routine. this can be turned on or off you have to change the DEBUG from True to False in the plugins __init__.py file. the DEBUG variable is right at the top.

the debugging no longer outputs to the log. it writes it's own file which is located in appdata\roaming\eventghost folder.

that is what i will need from now on to see what is going on..

also changed out the max volume from 12 to 18
