Panasonic TV doesn't see htpc as a device

Setup:

TV: Panasonic TH-50PZ85U
HTPC:on HDMI-1

Win7 x64

I am running eventghost 0.4.1.1568
I have installed everything as directed and can't seem to get the panasonic to detect the htpc.

I can send volume commands, poweron/off etc from the htpc, but unable to control pc from TV remote.

does anyone have any succes with panasonic tv's and hdmi-cec??

Update: I have tried both upgrading and downgrading my eventghost version with no luck.

You have to enable Viera Link on your tv. I have the PZ80 (almost exactly the same model) and it works just fine with my TV.

PanteraGSTK can you please post your entire eventghost configuration XML? It seems like maybe I messed something up for Panasonic in the default macros and stuff, and you have an older version of the plugin that has the correct macros or something.

New member and new to this device. I think it is exactly what I have been looking for! However I am having trouble getting it to do what I need. Basically I just want to use the bridge to keep my PC/TV/and avr in sync. It powers on and off beautifully but I need for it not to turn on everything when my PC wakes for a scheduled task. I know how to make it check for status of TV, but that's all. How do I tell it what to do once it finds the status. I'm assuming somehow I put a rule that goes something like if TV on status is false then stop macro. So basically I'll configure my remote to only power the TV, and if the PC wakes for any reason and it wasn't from me turning on the TV then it will stop powering up the other devices.

One other thing, when the TV powers on I see it asking for source status of avr. Then it always switches its input to TV, when I have my HTPC plugged into the cbl/sat input. Can I make the TV stop doing this? I guess I could always just switch inputs of the HTPC to the one the TV is switching it to. I tried inserting the event to switch back to correct source but the TV seems like it is always the last source switcher and always reverts back to TV source on my avr.

Love this device! only issue I have I would like to disable the audio sync feature. I am basically just using this to keep my devices powers synced. is this stored in the device is firmware were can I change this behavior through eventGhost? right now I have it set to use Harmony remote to send the volume command to the Avr. volume Control is very erratic. it works best when I control it through the TV volume But still not right. Maybe its because I have an Onkyo avr so I have to use "generic" in plugin settings? The audio sync doesn't work at all but I would rather not use it anyways.

When you have the plugin's "Amp:" or volume sync set to "TV Remote" that means "off", so the plugin does not try to do anything for volume. If volume control is still an issue with that setting the issue should be somewhere else. Remember that even with the PC-CEC plugin set to "TV Remote" aka off, you still have CEC turned on for both your TV and Onkyo so they could still be sending each other some CEC messages, perhaps the Onkyo and TV don't play so well together with CEC. Try setting the TV, amp and your harmony up without the PC-CEC involved and see if you still have issues.

Ok great! I didn't even try tv because the pdf said to only set it to TV if you play audio through your TV speakers. Maybe put a note in there that this disables the audio sync? Anyways this is great, working perfect now! For a couple years now I have been dealing with the devices losing power state sync, even using my harmony remote. It really wasn't a big deal for me, because I could easily get things working again. But you know that whole waf thing. Yeah, I could feel her rolling her eyes when she called me at work telling me the tv wasn't working again. Now there is basically no way for the devices to get out of sync again. I can't tell you how happy I am about this Along with the hdmi detective that I recently purchased as well, my system is bulletproof. And I'm just now beginning to understand the other benefits of eventghost. I have finally been able to map XBMC enable/disable subtitles and audio track switch to my harmony remote. And a couple button changes when using wmc. After using a htpc for 4 years and battling its quirks and complaints, it almost feels as if the war is over.

If you would like to get some more support for different avrs, i have a tx-nr709 and can send you any info you need to get it into your plugin. Be happy to help in any way, just let me know!

Hey, bubba, hoping that you could have me with another bothersome issue that I am having. I replaced my tv recently with an LG plasma. I had the sammy working flawless with rcaware, but now I have lost control. I tried unsucessfully to get my old setup working with the new tv, but couldn't so I thought something got screwed up somehow when I had rcaware discover my new tv. Here is a screenshot of a clean install using latest EG. This is a clean log just showing the process of turning the system on and off. I am only using the power command for the tv, and the first entry on the log shows the power off command. That happens fine, all components power down.

Then you see the "System.Resume", this is me pressing the tv power to turn back on. It begins to do so, the for some reason there is that "HdmiCec.Broadcast.Standby 'TV' " that is screwing everything up. And i have no idea where this command is coming from. Is that coming from the TV itself when I turn the TV on?

And lately the the rcaware device has become unresponsive when I am trying to get things to work. I can still see the tv "polling" different devices, which my Samsung never did, it will fill the log fast, but there is nothing to log any input from me, and macros wont run.

Please help!

Like your log says, it is from the 'TV', so either your TV is sending the event more than once when you press the power button or EG is duplicating the event.

I have seen some reports recently about duplicated events since the release of 1600 so just in case try downgrading EG.

If that does not work then we are left with the TV generating the event more than once when you press the power button on the remote. I have an LG TV myself and I have no such problems but there is always the chance your model behaves differently. To test, disable the macro that is putting the TV to sleep so that the event fires and you can just see it in the log, then press the power button. See if it fires more than once.

Let me know how these tests go.

Thanks for the suggestions HB. I was able to get things working by adding in some delays, and a check for "tv is on", that way when I am powering on, the second command from the tv wont shut things down if the tv is already on. Not pretty I guess, but it has everything working smoothly again.

But now, another issue. I am unable to get anything at all from my ps3. Since all this fiddling trying to get the tv to play well, I am totally unable to detect my ps3 again. It never shows as a device when I run the plugin. I have tried different ports on my avr, reinstalling EG and hdmi plugin, turning on/off cec control on all devices and even updating the ps3 firmware. This has my stumped once again. Has this ever been an issue for you bubba, where a device that once polled no longer does so? And if so what was your fix?

Edit: nm, it's working now. Just kept switching HDMI control on/off on the ps3 and it finally showed up again as a device.

Just received my hardware (very excited) and installed the RCAware HDMI-CEC plugin and was wanting some help with this problem.

My set-up is:
Windows 7 WMC
Yamaha RX-V773 amp
Samsung UA60ES8000M TV
All connected into AMP via HDMI, but the audio goes from WMC to amp via optical. The amp outputs sound to the speakers - the TV has no sound either in or out (set to 'external source')

I want to change the volume using the WMC controls as it has a nice graphic, nice range and when muted it will show subtitles on live TV.
I turned on volume sync and was able to achieve this but when I change volume using the remote the amp volume just "wanders" to the correct volume without any hurry and seeming at a random speed.
I might go 5 notches up in windows media player (changes instantly on-screen as per the WMC volume dialogue box) and it will take about 4 seconds for the amp to finally arrive at it's destination volume.

Is there a way that I can fix this - am I missing something?

My guess is that it is to do with % volumes and the way it is calculated then controls the amp.
WMC volume runs from 0-50
the Amp runs from -80.0db - +16.5db (the max volume can be set to -30.0db, -25.0db in 5db increments up to +15.0db then a single option of 16.5db) with the good listening range around -30.0db

Is there a way I can code this so when it changes volumes it is instant and not so random? (ie do I have to match WMC vol 25 to -30.0db and just change up and down 1.0db per WMC volume - how would I achieve this?)

Anyone have any ideas about the above?

If the amp sync does not work well for your particular amp try this instead. It will keep the PC volume always at 100% and always un-muted and will change volume on the amp. Just copy this XML and paste to your rcaware folder in eventghost, and of course replace my HID events with whatever your remove generates for all three macros...
PS - Once you do this your volume display in media center will always show 50 and be pretty much useless, you will have to look at the AMP display to know the true volume. So if you want to disable WMC volume OSD...
