Don't know if it's anything to do with it. See below:
I think we're getting close now, the missing port is probably the problem, as both use the SSDP protocol to detect XBMC, there seems to be something different.

The new debug6 will create a ssdp.log in %appdata%\eventghost\plugins\xbmc2. Please do the "Search" and the other tests you have done. Then attach(or PM me the file) as it should contain the information I need to finally fix the problem. I don't think there is any private/personal information in the ssdp.log file but you can open it and look before sending.

I don't seem to have the file created as you see in image below:

Hmm, try creating a empty file called "ssdp.log" in %appdata%\eventghost\plugins\xbmc2 and try again. I didn't think that you might not have the "xbmc2" directory already, that's probably why you get the error. Sorry.

jonib, man!

This file seems have my entire network details! I will have to kill you to give you all that information.
Do I have to delete the ones which are not related to XBMC ?

Hmm, I wasn't expecting there to be more then some (local) IP addresses and other minor network related info, but I guess it picked up more then that.

Hmm, I'm not sure it's easy to tell what is XBMC related, send me what you want and I'll see if it's enough.

I'm not sure if I can make the logging more XBMC specific, but I'll try if you think the log you got is too revealing.

Edit: Try this debug7. Delete the old ssdp.log first.

You should see a PM button to the right under my name.

Did you use the new XBMC2 debug7?

Yes the error you see is because the plugin expects a port number that is missing, and I did not anticipate that.

So from your log, there is this "presentationURL" that's supposed to have both an IP and port number for the HTTP server within XBMC. But your log only has the IP, that means I can't detect when XBMC starts as the plugin can't verify the event is from the right XBMC.

I don't know why your remote XBMC don't have the port in the file. Unless I can figure out another way you'll have to use your Ping function to enable/disable the plugin.
Edit: I could put in a setting to only check the IP as most people won't be running multiple XBMCs on the same device, so the port isn't that important. But the search button would still not find the port, but I guess thats minor problem too.

Thank you very much for helping me to try to find the problem by testing the millions of debug versions. At least I was able to fix some other bugs in the process.

Wanted to say thanks to jonib for the continued development of this plugin.

Recently I was trying to open an addon from my OSM, and the last way I used to do that was using a builtin function via HTTP. Well, after about an hour of wondering why that no longer works, I read that the HTTP API is deprecated. So I see the JSON RPC interface must be used instead. Luckily, I find jonib is right on the ball, ensuring this excellent plugin is up to snuff with the latest changes.

I installed your update (ver 0.6.9), configured the plugin, took a little bit to figure out the proper context for activating addons, though when done, everything works perfectly.

Thanks again for your hard work on an incredibly useful addon :D .

One question...

I'm using Method:Execute Addon so I can open an addon with the the ID of: plugin.video.youtube.channels. The syntax I used is...

["plugin.video.youtube.channels"]

which works fine. I was wondering if I can go a bit further and have the addon open directly into the "myChannels" window of this addon.

When I add the "myChannels" window to Fauvourites, it appears as this in Favourites.xml...

ActivateWindow(10025,"plugin://plugin.video.youtube.channels/?mode=myChannels&url")

So I tried something like this as the context: ["plugin.video.youtube.channels.myChannels"], but it wouldn't work.

Is it possible to open directly into an addons specific window?

No biggie if not. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Sorry haven't done anything with the JSON addons support. I think your best bet is to ask in the XBMC JSON-RPC forum.

Hello gentlemen i am in some desperate need of help ....Ive been researching non stop for about 8 hours and i felt like i was close to the end of my journy but....nope lol

I am trying to get EG to listen to Cinema Expierence and have EG trigger a windows command that i wrote to turn on and off my lights. I altered the python script in Cinema expeirence according to cinema expeirences so that in announced to eg. Now ive read that it wont even do it anymore because of json is being used instead.

All i want to do is have either cinema expeirence or heck find out how to set it to run my windows command when the movie starts.

Do i need to alter xbmc or cinema expierence to anounce or broadcast?

How do i capture or view when the action is broadcast for setup?

How do I continue to receive the broad cast or anounce to trigger the set up?

So far i have the moded cinema expeirence python the xbmc2 plugin and a head ache.

I would appreciate it so much if some one could walk me through or send me a detailed step by step link my heads spinning lol.

I'll look into this on sunday(Won't be home before). But a quick look shows (I don't use Cinema Expierence) that it uses "Broadcast events" even in XBMC 12(Frodo) so activating and configuring correctly the latest test version of the XBMC2 plugin should work (But it is still a "test" version and might blow up the Death Star).

Sorry for neglecting that info in the post. Overwrite the file in this directory "(EventGhost install dir)\plugins\XBMCRepeat\", then (re)start EventGhost. Now you should have the updated XBMC2 plugin in EventGhosts add plugin list.
