oh boy Matt. :D :D :D It looks like maybe Christmas will come early for you this year. (no offense meant if you don't like christmas...)

what operating system are you using?

Vista or Win7 ?

32 bit or 64 bit ?

I think I have a very nice (and possibly powerful) solution for WMC without needing to use eventGhost.

I have also figured out a way to keep it as a part of the regular VoxCommando program which is good because it means that I will keep developing it (unlike the iTunes version).

I use x10. It is very bad quality and unreliable, but it works for demonstration purposes.

I am using win 7 64 bit as well. I will have something for you to try soon. Right now I am having a beer in the sun!

sorry. Christmas might be delayed after all. I was hoping to use a plugin for WMC but it seems that it is very buggy, especially under windows 7 x64! I am not sure if the problems are more because of windows 7 or because of the 64 bit.

this is the plugin:
http://vmccontroller.codeplex.com/

there is a 64bit version on the site somewhere but now I can't find it! Some things seem to work and some do not.

ok MaTT, I found a better version of the WMC plugin. It's not perfect, but pretty good. hopefully they will continue to develop and improve it.

please start by installing this (choose the x64 version of course):
http://vmccontroller.codeplex.com/releases/view/45909

I will try to upload a new version of Vox tomorrow. I would prefer to work on it with you a bit before you send it to your German friends. Vox will talk directly to this plugin which exists inside Media Center.

thanks. I don't think I will switch to using Windows Media Center, but I am excited by the possibilities anyway!

I could also work on controlling lights for a particular system other than x10, but someone would have to buy me the devices to experiment with

just unzip all these files to a folder. You don't have to worry about the settings. If you have the vmccontroller plugin installed it should work.

you can change the phrases but not the command names.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Matt,

I hope it works for you. Once you get it up and running I will help you to customize and expand its functionality. Be sure to comment on the site of VmcController to encourage the developer to keep updating his product.

It looks like it is possible to request music by the name of the artist, but function to request by album and song do not work.

I do 3D images and animation for artists and architects, prototypes etc, but I'm not really a "graphic designer". Perhaps at some point you could come up with some icons for Vox (I think I saw custom icons on your youtube feed), but it is not really necessary. If you help me to expand and test VoxCommando, and also get the word out to other users then I am grateful.

soon I will need to put some information about VoxC on my site!

Matt, look back a few posts and you'll see this:

You need to install that plugin so that VC can talk to WMCenter.

yes, a little bug with the f:\.$#%&*!. path.

you can just hit continue and ignore the error, but here's the fixed version: (see attached)

Don't worry about too loud or too noisy message if it is working. You can also reduce the input volume of the microphone easily from windows control panel.

Enjoy party time!

you don't need this. This is actually for mediamonkey, maybe we will integrate something for WMC later.
@ phrase "artist", I must write all my artist down?
see above. For now, yes, try putting a few artists in the payload list, where I put David. It needs to match the beginning. So "David" will work for "David Bowie", but just "Bowie" will not work.
On ur itunes version computer voice answer artist etc. are this wav files or computer generate?
computer generated (Text to Speech). I did this with eventGhost, but we will see about it later.
phrase dont accept ├ñ,├Â,├╝,├ƒ (many german words use this)
Yes, this is a real problem I will take a look at the code and see what I can do.
need "start/close media player"
there is already a command called window-close.
I still need to create something for Starting external programs. (soon I hope)
@ phrase after comma space?
I don't understand what you mean
command overlay in wmc?
tricky...WMC like some girls, like to be on top. I will look into it.
under phrase "abc" changeable? german, english?
I don't understand what you mean. You can choose what you want for each phrase and you can use more than one phrase for each command by using commas. example: "select, okay, enter, go" . You can't change the command text like "window-close" or it won't work anymore. You have to be careful with payloads too, if you change them it could break something.

best confidence was 72%,intersection 50% it is okay or work on articulation?
I don't know about this. I usually get >90% when I use a good microphone in a relatively quiet environment. Is this using german words and the german recognizer set it windows control panel? You also need to set up your microphone correctly and adjust the volume. Turning down the input volume can sometimes help.
