EventGhost

I am using EventGhost 0.3.7r1194 on Windows 7 x64 Professional. The only plugin I have loading is the Onkyo AV Serial plugin.

After a week or two of uptime, I've found that the Onkyo plugin stops sending commands to my receiver. I get no error messages, and the rest of the items in my macro are working, but not any of the items related to the Onkyo. I can individually select an action for the Onkyo and it still doesn't work. Trying to manually start the Onkyo plugin again doesn't help either. I can clearly see all the commands I'm executing in the log, but they just aren't being sent to my receiver.

To fix this I simply have to exit EventGhost and re-launch it - the receiver then receives the commands just fine.

As I use EventGhost to turn on my receiver so I can hear an alarm in the morning, the only way I know it's not working is when the alarm *doesn't* go off - which isn't very helpful .

For now I may decide to rewrite my configuration to close itself after executing as I use a different program to trigger the only macro in the program, and just force eventghost to start up new each time.

Today this happened to me after only 2 days of eventghost running....

And it's happened to me a couple of times now right when starting the program up. Has this happened to anyone else? It makes this program completely useless to me as it's not reliable.

I only happened to me, that it does not worked after resume from standby and one time the USB serial adapter was missing in the device manager.
Do you use an adapter or the mainboards one? The serial code is the same as for the other serial device plugin.

My computer does not go into standby (fully on 24/7) and the device is still present in the device manager. There are no error messages from eventghost, according to eventghost it successfully sent the message.

I use a USB to serial adapter.

The thing I think is weird is that closing Eventghost and re-opening it will make the plugin work again most of the time.

What chip does your adapter use? I had one with prolific chip (driver files starts with pl) and weird errors on a regular basis. I switched to one with a FTDI chip after a recommendation by Bitmonster.

Agreed usb>serial adapters are kinda flakey. I got an 8 port PCI card no problems using 3 ports at the same time. Before I had issues with an adapter with and without eventghost, never with onkyo plugin though.

It is a prolific adapter, maybe I'll have to try a different one. Do you have a link to the one you purchased? Maybe I should also look into a pci version.

It would really seem weird to me that it would be a hardware issue since restarting eventghost fixes it. I would think I would have to restart the PC or the device if it were a hardware issue.

Can anybody link to a specific device for sale that is known to work reliably with the Onkyo plugin?
