MCE clone remote and Windows Home Server

I'm having great trouble in getting my Ikasu/Itron MCE remote to work on Windows Home Server. I realise it's really not the right OS for media centre use, but XBMC runs just fine on it and I'm trying to save money by having just the one box

I've managed to install it by forcing it to use a combination of Itron inf file, IR drivers from a XP CD and HID drivers from the WHS disc. This took a while to figure out, I'm by no means certain it's the correct or only way to do it. Eventghost simply doesn't pick up and input from the transceiver, having tried both the MCE plugin and the Generic HID plugin.

The device shows up as three separate HID devices, but none specifically as a keyboard or MCE remote. It functions fine on a normal XP system, working with the MCE plugin. For anyone that doesn't know, WHS is essentially Windows Server 2003. Can anyone help me get this working, or tell me if I'm wasting my time doing it this way?

Edit: Almost forgot, I'm using EG 0.3.7.r1387, WHS Power Pack 3. No error messages, except 'device not found' when attempting to use MCE plugin.

It's hard to get some of the MCE copies working in XP/Vista/Win7. When you throw WHS into the mix, it becomes too hard to provide help. I have no idea if it is even possible to get working or not.

My advice would be to look at something like USB-UIRT, and load the Vista drivers (WHS uses Vista 32 bit drivers). I can't guarantee that will work, but I think you will have better luck with something that doesn't try to use drivers that are built into XP/Vista/Win7, like the MCE remotes do.

WHS uses Vista drivers hmmm? That comes a surprise, maybe I'll go back and use some different files. Ideally I want to avoid buying any more hardware, but I suppose another remote solution is cheaper than the dedicated XBMC box that I really need!
