Prior to mid-2013 there was a lot of discussion in this forum about the PCAware plugin for the Rainshadow Tech HDMI-CEC to USB bridge. Unfortunately while the PCAware web site is still operating it is no longer possible to purchase the Plugin. This is an excellent product with a great WAF and a replacement plugin would be useful for many people. I am so keen to see a replacement developed that I would be prepared to put $200 towards the developers' costs and would also provide the hardware for testing. I would expect the finished plugin to be freely available to all. If any experienced developer is interested in this product, please reply to this post or send me a private message.

I remember that discussion. The former author introduced a new *concept* where he
- praised EG and that it was completly free of charge
- emphasized the benefit from all nice already included features and functions
- then was charging for his plugin...arguing that he had spent a lot of time developing it and a kind of related driver

Anyway, now we see the result. More than one user is sitting there with the device and no support. I do not know what happened to the author, if he still is supporting his customers or if he is simply gone.

I do not have a device myself but I would assume the following is needed or would help for anyone trying to create a replacement:

- the device
- a CEC compatible TV set
- document regarding the device functionality (http://rainshadowtech.com/doc/HDMICECto ... 32v2.0.pdf)
- the old EG plugin source code (I guess users that purchased the device also have the plugin .py files)

Any new plugin should, as you say, be developed and tracked in this open forum so that you do not end up in a similar situation having no possibility for future support.
