Hi,

Im using EG 0.3.6.1430 and mediaportal rc1.
They run fine in my desktop, no problem at all. So I bought a notebook to put into my living room acting as a mediacenter contected to my big screen tv.

Everytime the computer come back from standy I can't use it anymore, so I investigted the problem and realized that the ALT and ENTER key hangs in a ON position, that means every key that I press, like UP/Down, become ALT+KEY+RETURN, like ALT+UP+RETURN/ALT+DOWN+RETURN.

I could recreate the problem in an other way: launch EG, lauch MP (configured to run in fullscreen), then I press ALT+ENTER do quit from fullscreen mode, after that the ALT +RETURN key locks in ON, then I switch to EG (using my mouse) and press ALT+ENTER, then the key ALT +ENTER backs to normal, or, close and reopen EG. The same problem occurs when MP is in fullscreen I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE+RETURN, but the key sequence locks in EG, which means that every key that I press becomes CTRL+ALT+DELTE+KEY+RETURN.

Check when I pressed the Alt+Return for the second time, but in EG, it logs as Keyboard.Alt

I noticed that in a normal ALT+ENTER operation EG logs as:

Keyboard.LAlt
Keyboard.LAlt+Return
Keyboard.LAlt

And when the problem occurs:

Keyboard.LAlt
Keyboard.LAlt+Return

There is no Keyboard.LAlt at the end, like closing the operation, like and return was pressed and still pressed.



The problem occurs in a windows xp professional SP3 AND a windows media center edition SP2 AND windows xp professional SP2. I Tried so switch the usb ports with no luck, the problem persists in every usb port.

The notebook is a core2duo T5300 with 1 gb ram 120gb hd, motherboard l114, keyboard layout abnt2 (even if I switch to english the problem still there).

The remote is a leadership (gotec) code 3801 - no drivers needed (hid)

BTW, EG is one of the bests program that a used my entire life!! It is amazing and works like a charm (in my desktop )

It has some code to reset the keyboard state after suspend.

Oh, BTW:

Don't you have problems with this remote, because it will also generate keystrokes? Or do you have applied the registry tweak to disable this HID feature?

Hi, I have one of these remote aswell.

Some keys are recognized as buttons, but some are keystrokes.

In case of htpc that doesn't use any keyboard, it just need to configure the keyboard plugin to get those keycombos to work only on the MediaPortal window.


But in my case, I use the PC for work and for mediaportal on the secondary display... so we have a problem, because with the configuration of the keyboard plugin, all the 'alt+f4' would close the MP window and not the actual active window on my primary display, and without any configuration, if during the playback on MediaPortal any window get activated on the first display, these button/keystroke on the remote would be applied to that window instead the MediaPortal one.

The best find I could think, is if the keyboard plugin could be configured to accept only for selected device, like, EG should listen and execute the keystrokes from the remote control but ignore and let it pass the keystrokes from the actual keyboard, but I don't know if it's possible.

The orange ones are recognized as HID.Button.* on EG and the red ones are the keystrokes.

I have completely deactived the eHome from Vista and the only HID.Buttons "executed twice" is the volume+, volume- and mute, cause they also controls the Windows Vista volume (I didn't tried on XP yet).
I tried removing the CodeSetNum0~3 from the registry, but it didn't changed anything.

Thanks for the help!! I ll try the new version and post the results.
Actually I dont have any problems with the remote, but you are right, it generats hid codes and the keystrokes, the solution was to map basead only on hid codes.

I dont know how to solve your problem, but this remote creates 4 hid input devices, maybe there is a way to map only the selected device as input for the keyboard plugin. This feature is something very interesting b/c you could have 2 keyboards, one for the computer and one for the media center working together but mapping different actions. So you guess right

I my case, I mapped the alt+f4 to mp then in the mp I mapped as stanby (using the events plugin), no matter which program is active, when I press alt+f4 the computer goes to standby.

Ill try to map to exit media portal instead standby and post to you the results, but I think, if you press the alt+f4 in your keyboard it will closes mp anyway, so you should close the current application window using the "x" with the mouse. You cant map alt+f4 to work with windows only when mp is closed b/c mp somtimes generates a event called Task.Destroyed.MediaPortal when it is launching.

This is possible with DirectInput. If have some free time you know what to do

well, I tested many times standby/resume, and everything works perfectly!! Outstanding job!!
I consider my problem was solved!

I noticed if a change the focus to EG, hit alt to unloack alt and enter to unloack the enter, then back to MP and hit backspace, it locks the backspace

Can be a plugin problem ?

I figured the problem only occurs when MP is in fullscreen.

I guess a complete other approach for the Keyboard plugin is needed. But such rewrite will not come before 0.3.7.

0.3.6.1487 should fix this.
