I got this working, see the attached file for setup and usage.
this opens many options with connected devices.

Thank you for your code, I modified mine to include your code and it works perfect.
I did leave the old vb script in there and attached a zip containing those if anyone wanted them.

turn off Media Center from reacting to a MSC keyboard or IR remote

click Start | Control Panel | Default Programs | Set Program access and computer defaults

then select the option for Custom
expand chevron at right side of screen
then scrool down for category: Choose a default media player

I have no trouble waking my computer up from S3 sleep
I have flashed the USB-UIRT and use my Harmony 880 to send the
request to the USB-UIRT to wake up the pc.

There are two guides
1.) using Girder
or
2.) using the USB-UIRT's Learn Helper Utility

EventGhost doesn't provide the function to program the flash on the USB-UIRT,
so you will have to user Girder download Girder 5 Trial here: http://www.promixis.com/
